Kinect unplugged

Hello. For the last couple of months my kinect has been turning off by itself for no apparent reason. The only way to turn it back on is to restart the console. This has been happening since around the time the kinect was made not mandatory to the console
so im presuming its a software issue and can be fixed with a future update. Anyone else having this issue or know otherwise and think its a hardware problem?

Kinect Unplugged

I'm having issues with my Kinect all of a sudden. I got my One last night and everything worked great (except the fan on the power brick was really loud all night, but that's a subject for a different post). All of a sudden, my Xbox was saying the Kinect
was unplugged even though I was just using it to talk and Skype with friends. I had just downloaded the free trial of Kinect Sports Rivals and my Kinect seemed to stop working right after the game finished downloading. What can I do to make my Xbox realize
that my Kinect is actually plugged in?

Sorry you have the problem too. It's actually not too uncommon as I have found out. MS has not said what the problem is. I was hoping they would have a patch to download but have not seen anything. It's a defective kinect or a console hardware problem. I
have called twice, long story short, I haven't been able to get shipping labels to return it. Post if you get anywhere. I will do same.

If that was the case a lot more people would be affected.

You need to go to the drawer where you keep your receipts for expensive electronic purchases and take this and the faulty Kinect to the retailer you bought it from and have them replace it with one that works or give you money for a new one.

Im having the same issue. Microsoft customer support keeps handing me back and forth from place to place.

This is a nightmare.

Hi there unfortuneatly since the return to retailer is out, your only other option is when you have it send it in to microsoft for a replacement.

If the Kinect is broken, there is no charge for repair through Microsoft (it should be under warranty till February 2015). Just register your console and select a repair. You can mail it in and they will ship it back repaired or ship a new one. Also best
buy can check under your phone number (if you gave it to them) to see when it was purchased and replace it without a receipt. You have to speak to a store manager directly to have them check this way.

Now try this in the meantime.. Hard Reset

Hold the power button for 10 seconds and let it power off. Once power is off, disconnect it from the power outlet or unplug from the back of the console for 30 seconds. Plug it back in and wait 30 seconds then press the power button. Give it time to boot
up about 2 minutes. See if this corrects the issues, if not, you may need to get it repaired.
