Kinect stops controllers connecting

Hi all, I have been using xbox one for long time with no issues. My kids are getting to an age where they can start to play so I bought a kinect and a few suitable games.

When I plug the kinect in, my 2 wireless controllers lose connection and will not reconnect no matter what. Power cycle, pairing, firmware etc.. I can find nothing online despite a lot of searching. Kinect works fine, and controllers can be used with usb
cable ok. When I unplug kinect, the controllers work wirelessly again (after power cycle).

I borrowed a friends kinect and same issue occurs (although his setup exactly same with 2 wireless controllers and it all works ok for him).

it could be a fault with the xbox wireless controller or the kinect is drawing to much power, nothing else i can think of really.

Thanks Tezzarrific, but it is the original black xbox one. No adapter.

are you using the original back xbox one or the newe white s model.

if using the newer s model are you using a third party adapter to attach the kinect, if so wich usb port are you plugging into as it is usually the one closest to the hdmi ports, if it is a third party adapter is may be faulty as it sound like the usb bus
is having to much power draw which cuts the wifif module that the controllers connect to.

no, but i have a bunch of HDMI cables, i'll try that to see if any diference.. also i'll try to connect the controller directly.

btw... my console is dying by part... my kinect just stop working...I'm thinking my XO has some kind of cancer.

It makes sense to have the controllers connect to the Kinect rather than the Xbox One - the Kinect will likely be placed in a position where it has maximum visibility, which is what you want for your controller's wireless connection. In contrast, the Xbox
One is likely to be on a shelf either next to or below your TV, where your wireless connection for your controller would be sub-optimal at best. This is just 1 reason why the Kinect may be required.
