Kinect sound test fails (Xbox One)

I have sound through the TV speakers when I play games. When I give verbal commands, the Xbox responds appropriately, but when I do the Kinect setup, it does not play the sounds and then says maybe I need to turn up my TV volume.

Where does the network test (on the xbox) fail? It sounds like it would fail at internet or xbox live level.

You do realize the XBox 360 has a test/feedback type of app specifically for Kinect, right? As I'm sure many who love Kinect have used this must've ran the app, ran through the tests to provide the necessary feedback M$ needed
to imrpove Kinect 2 to ensure it doesn't fail, which no doubt in my mind they are most likely still prepping and finalizing for release as well as the XBox One itself.

You need to have your tv volume between 35-75 decibels when doing the kinect setup. Otherwise the dashboard will show a message too low or sound too high.

 

Turned the TV up at least 3/4 of the way. Game sounds and TV programs are REALLY loud.

 

If there are any other sounds in the room (people talking, fan noise, anything really) when doing your calibration. then it can interfere with a proper setup.

Also, having the Volume set high, gives the best results in my experience.

Remember, only set the TV volume very high during the calibration, and not after it is done of course. The high volume is only for calibration time.

If it doesn't work, you could power cycle the console by holding in the Xbox button on the console itself pressed for about 5 seconds until it has shut down. Then unplug the Kinect and leave off for 30 seconds before reconnecting and rebooting the Xbox,
to see if that helps.

 

Thanks angryvato. Duh! A reboot worked. Shouldn't that be the first thing I should always try?
