Kinect sensor randomly shuts itself off unexpectedly during gameplay

Hello! I'm having a very frustrating issue regarding my Kinect sensor. Whenever I have to use the Kinect sensor, whether it's for a game or for setup, it just shuts itself off automatically when you expect it the least. The sensor is firmly plugged into
the back of my Xbox One console, and there is nothing interfering with the connections from the sensor to the console, or the sensor itself. I checked for dust inside of the port of the Xbox One console, and there is apparently nothing. This is very frustrating
for me and I hope there is a method out there to fix this.

If the Xbox is unexpectedly turning off during gameplay, first ensure you have adequate "breathing room" for the console and power supply. The Xbox uses cooling fans to expel heat, but if there's too much heat building up, the console
will automatically shut off.

Kinect No Longer Operates

Since you had it unplugged for a while, the console likely was updated with the Kinect sensor being unplugged. The sensor itself works, but needs to be configured for the new updates of the console. Try powering down the console by the main power button
on the console by pushing it in for 10 seconds until the console shuts off. Unplug the power cord and Kinect sensor from the console. Once that is done, plug the power cord back in (but leave the Kinect unplugged, Power on the console and go to the Kinect
setting to see if it is enabled or not. It should let you enable the Kinect. Plug the sensor back in to see if the sensor can be recognized and be updated. It should turn on and update itself. There should be a area in the Kinect settings that tells you it
needs updating and a way for you to see that update in process.

If that fails, you might have to factory reset the console WITH THE KINECT PLUGGED IN. During that process, it should try to power up and update before it is configured. You might have to repeat the reset once more to fully do it so it is operational.

 

This may seem like a silly question but is your Kinect
enabled in the Kinect settings? Something may have happened that modified this setting.

Failing that, you could
reset your Kinect's sensor to see if that works.
