Kinect sensor isn't moving up or down - XBox360

Kinect sensor isn't moving up or down. It gives an error as "Something is preventing Kinect sensor to move" any quick solution for this? restarted kinect sensor and also Xbox360 but still no luck. Is repair/replacement the only solution? Please help

Sorry to tell you that if the kids were moving it up and down they probably stripped the gears and broke it. You're going to have to purchase a new kinect sensor for your friend to replace it.

Is there a way to checkout a Kinect sensor without hooking up to xbox360. Need to see if it works. Thanks

 

Had you manually adjusted the sensor up and down at any point? If so then you may have stripped the gears. If this is the case then a repair/replacement will be the only option available to you.

 

Stripped the gears? You don't magically strip the gears. If anything, you'd break the gears.

If going into settings doesn't allow the sensor to move, when telling it to move up, gently pull the sensor up. Don't force it or you'll damage it, but sometimes if it stays in a position for too long, it'll get jammed. If that doesn't work then you'll have
to repair it. I don't want to suggest manually adjusting it, but if that's your last open then why not right?

 

Stripping and breaking the gears are the same thing when it comes to the Kinect sensor. The sensor was never meant to be manually adjusted up or down for any reason.
