Kinect Sensor is buggy after NXOE

Since the last update my Kinect is rather useless.

You removed hand gestures, so that's one thing. But now voice commands rarely work. Sometimes I'll see the command up top, but nothing happens. When I'm in Netflix (for example), it will tell me "Can't play from here". (Maybe it's a Netflix app issue?)

It rarely recognizes me to sign in, even after repeatedly calibrating it to my face.

Common problem since NXOE, particularly with consoles with the Kinect sensor enabled. I think it is an OS issue since the problem started with the NXOE update.

Some have done hard resets, factory resets which may/may not solve the issue (I have posted about this several times and reported it to MS). I don't know if this is limited to consoles with the Kinect sensor or those without the sensor also have it.

I have not tried disabling and unplugging the sensor completely when videos are played (this also affects any video streaming app), but if it is the case where it only does it with the Kinect enabled and active, the only cause is the Kinect driver package
in the OS is faulty and MS has to redo that part of the OS completely.

Ever since the NXOE update, the Kinect has had major problems with its operation on many levels, I have noted this issue here several times and think the Kinect driver package and use is the main issue, where hard resets and factory resets don't solve the
problem.

I would like to know if this issue exists without the Kinect.

 

What happened to full kinect calibration/setup

Nope not just you. Same here. I guess the NXOE dash broke it as when you start it up the screen with the picture of the kinect sensor is not even framed properly.

I'm seeing this issue in Netflix as well - neither voice commands nor Smartglass work for Netflix if the controller is off. If I turn the controller on both seem to star working fine. This, of course, sorta ruins the point of having non-controller input
methods if you have to have the controller on. Is there a place to log this as a formal defect?

Completely doesnt recognize me anymore, after multiple calibrations and restarts. Work maybe once a day, but mostly need to use the manual button on and off. This all started after update, but microsoft says send in the kinext for 69$ for replacement.
This doesnt seem right either.

Somebody know anything about it being a true issue with the update ? Or should i send this brick back?

 

$70? That seems harsh but it sounds like your problem is more serious than the rest of hours. I wish we could get an answer either way.

 

Do any of you also have issues with the IR blaster? My Kinect after the update wont control volume or power for my AV Receiver. Mute works, and in the setup menu it is able to control volume there but not outside the setup area. Its really really annoying!!

 

Seems to me they just really messed up the Kinect with this update in the attempt to deintegrate the Kinect as unnecessary, but forgetting about all of us who have it. Problems I have seen:

• Kinect camera/floor setup completely removed/doesn't work anymore
• Kinect voice recognition worse - I need to basically yell at it at times now
• Kinect facial recognition worse - I get the "Sorry, we couldn't log you in, use a controller"
  
• Loses me constantly in the middle of a floor exercise during Xbox Fitness even though it was tracking me fine for the first few reps
