Kinect reimbursement

this isn't the 90's anymore, consoles can do more than just play games without taking away from the gaming experience, and since Phil took over he has made it very clear that he is all about the games.

Given the comment in there, they were not to be sold separately. Period.

 

^ I read the above article yesterday and unless I missed it I didn't see anyone from Microsoft say "It will never be sold without it" or words to that effect.

Even if Microsoft have said it though, "We will never sell it without", how many companies out there have today said one thing, only for tomorrow to do something totally different? It happens and I'd be surprised if anyone here would be themselves surprised
by this, or maybe it is just me?

As has been said time and time again, Microsoft couldn't please everyone, loads wanted Kinect to always remain a part of the console but how many on this forum alone on a daily basis have asked Microsoft to make it optional? so some are unhappy about it,
others happy.

For me it's not something I will be losing sleep over, so many more important things in life to get your blood pressure to raise for, a games console? definitely not one of them.

 

The interviewer never asked will Xbox One be sold without kinect, he stated he presumed it would not be because of supporting developers etc, Phil never said we will never sell it without kinect either.

 

no one deserves any Kinect reimbursement.

 

i think we are starting to split hairs at this point, while he never actually said the magic words, i think at the time MS had no intention of selling them separately.

A quick word on Kinect - I presume there will never be an Xbox One sold without it. You are doing this for developer-related reasons as much as your own. You want all developers to know that they can always implement Kinect technology because
it always comes with every system. Would that be correct?

Correct. Xbox One is Kinect. They are not separate systems. An Xbox One has chips, it has memory, it has Blu-ray, it has Kinect, it has a controller. These are all part of the platform ecosystem.

the first statement the interviewer made was that the X1 will never be sold without the Kinect, and Phil Harrison confirmed that statement and implied the Kinect is as important as the other components in the Xbox.

Oh god not the "lets talk specs again" to make you feel better about it all.

Does a super powerful machine mean more enjoyment, better games? if so, well all I can say is I must have the best games going as my PC out performs XB1 and PS4 by a big margin.

We all know the PS4 is more powerful than XB1 but again not as good as decent PC, more and more PS4 games are not hitting the "magical" 1080p/60fps, so it must be bad right?

@ForeZee - Ms are just un-bundling the Kinect. They're not releasing a different version of Xbox One. No need to buy 2. Nor are they going to stop supporting it.

The difference in'power' between the consoles is minimal. Both offer different experiences and different games. It all comes down to which games you prefer as to which console you buy. So enjoy the 8-bit indie games on the PS4 and chill out. Power means
nothing if you never get to see it.

 

give it a rest ForeZee, yes everyone can see that you're bitter towards MS like it was a person that ran over your dog, but both consoles are basically weak computers, and having SLIGHTLY better graphics doesn't make a game more fun.

also try to avoid pushing your opinion off as fact, MS has some excellent exclusives that have a great appeal to a wide range of gamers.

 

Bizarro, don't be - most of us are more than likely perfectly content or happy with our early adoption of the console.

 

I must have missed the part where they had a gun to our heads. You didn't think that there would be a price drop eventually anyways?

 

first time i played Halo:CE in December 2001... it put a gun to my head and forced me to buy a Xbox 0_o;

 

Microsoft forced me into having an Xbox One. No guns or other acts of violence, just an email and a tracking number.

 

My life did change significantly the day I bought my first Xbox in 2002, and put in Halo: Combat Evolved. Been an avid gamer ever since.
