Kinect over USB on Xbox 360 S

I have an Xbox 360 S with a Kinect sensor. I am needing to run the Xbox from the back of the room and need the sensor to be in the front (about 50 ft). To do so I purchased a USB and power adapter for the Kinect along with a USB 2.0 extender to make the
run. The Xbox recognizes the Kinect but whenever I open the games they say that there was an error. Is there a way to resolve this?

Which console with Kinect?

Sorry but this is incorrect. Any Console from Launch until today's date will work with Kinect. For the older "fat" Xbox 360's additional Equipment/ Power Adapter is required. That's the only difference.

How to connect the cables of your Xbox 360 Console

You must connect the cables properly to run your Xbox 360 Console.

Here is how:

Original Xbox 360 console

First, you need to plug one end of the cable into the USB port on the back of the console and the other end into an electrical outlet.

If you have a wireless networking adapter, plug it into the USB port on the front of the console by using the supplied USB extension cable.

Connect all other USB accessories to USB ports on the front of the console.

Note: You'll have to purchase a power/USB cable if your want to connect the Kinect sensor which you have bought with an Xbox 360 S Console, to an Original Xbox 360 console.

Xbox 360 S console

In Xbox 360 S console, the Kinect sensor cable does not need to be attached with a power plug. So disconnect the power plug portion of the cable if it is attached with a power plug.

You need to plug the sensor cable into the AUX port on the back of the console.

Unfortunately USB extenders aren't supported and may cause trouble, especially if you're running 50 feet of cable. We recommend using the stock cable for the Kinect Sensor the best performance.

the 360 kinect isnt a normal usb idk about an xbox one kinect tho

USB 3.0 hard drives will work perfectly fine on the Xbox 360's USB 2.0 ports.

Even over USB 2.0, the read speed of a hard drive connected to a 360 is still faster than the Xbox 360's DVD drive playing games from a disc,

Don't get confused between 3.0 and 3.1 either. The standard was changed a few years ago, but, suffice as to say, USB 3.0 is now called USB 3.1, but it's still all BC with the older standards. The hard drive connected to my old Xbox 360 is a modern USB 3.0/3.1 drive. It works fine.

Just buy one.
