  1. Kinect not controlling volume or power on Insignia Receiver

Here is my setup: I have a Panasonic TV, an Entone Amulet 400 set top box, and an Insignia NSR5101HD receiver. I've been able to get the Kinect to control the TV and STB successfully, however, even though the Insignia model number is listed it won't control
the volume or power. I tried some of the other Insignia models in the list of devices and I did find that if I selected the NSR5101AHD the "Xbox Mute / Unmute" voice commands work with the receiver - but volume up/down and power still does not. I've made sure
that I checked the boxes to have the Xbox One power on and Power off my devices.

    :)

  2. Question about volume control

Newbie question about volume control on the media remote - is this only for controlling the volume on a 'recognized' TV or receiver via IR blasting or can this control the actual volume output via HDMI or Optical out from the device?

    Thanks in advance!

    Quick question about remotes...

Yes it is true you cannot power off or up the volume without connect due to how the volume feature works. You are controlling the volume via the infared signal in Kinect talking to your TV same with powering ON/off. Channel changing/menu changing and media
playback all work as the tuners are either coming from an app in X1 or vias USB tuners. The actual TV is separate. Hope that makes sense.

  4. Kinect not controlling volume or power on Insignia Receiver

Even after the April 2014 update this still doesn't work properly. The update now let's you try to have the xbox one automatically find the type of receiver it is. Again - there were a couple where the mute would work, but volume up/down did not. I even
had at least one where the mute command worked in "automatic" mode , but after saving the setting it would no longer control the mute function either.

  5. Feature request to allow the Kinect to learn the IR codes from the vendor remote control for unrecognized devices. I have a Logitech Harmony remote, and that feature is very handy at times.

  6. Hey Spear0fDestiny, thanks for the information.

Can you go to TV & OneGuide settings -> Troubleshooting -> Enter a remote code -> AVR and try out the following codesets to see if they help things?

    -2929

    -2472

    -2545

    -2169

  7. I tried all of those codes - 2472 lets the mute function work, but volume and power controls do not work. The other 3 codes did not work at all. Is there any other information you need about my audio receiver to troubleshoot further?

  9. May 2014 Update didn't fix this. Hoping maybe the June update will since it will have the universal remote on Smartglass

  10. FYI that we're still investigating this. It's hard to find the hardware sometimes when the stores don't sell it anymore.

  11. I see similar. However, I have found that when using smartglass beta i can change the volume if i tap the Vol+ or Vol- repeatedly in rapid succession ~5+ blasts = 1 unit change. I have an IR repeater set up which is directly over the IR window on the reciever.
It also lights up when a signal is being sent. When using the VolumeUp voice cmd on the kinect. It appears to blast 10 bursts in ~3-4 seconds. If fake a faster rate (using smartglass) I can get it to change.

In short i think the signal is being blasted at too short of interval for it to be registered by the receiver.

  14. To anyone else that has this problem - after the June 2014 update, if you select remote code 2929 the Xbox One will now control power on/off of the receiver when it turns on & off. I also confirmed that with the latest Smartglass app, if you hit the volume
repeatedly in the tv/cable screen of the remote, you can get it to change the volume level. Microsoft support is still working with me on troubleshooting this receiver.

  15. I checked my Xbox One today and it's all working now - I can control volume up/down with both the smartglass app and with the voice commands.
