Kinect not changing my receivers volume?

I bought a One with Kinect way back when it came out. Loved the media features, but was forced to sell it when I got laid off.

Picked led up a brand new one, along with a Kinect sensor (Black Friday deals lol) and am having an issue. It controls "everything" but volume. It will turn everything on and off, and then when I remembered about the "Xbox volume up/down" voice commands
and tried it, nothing happened. It registered the command with the little blip that pops up, but didnt actually change the volume.

Heres the the weird part though, it will mute, and control every other feature it's supposed to. I deleted it from the list and tried to reprogram it, to which it did the "Lets send a volume up command to your receiver" which WORKED, then it sent a mute
command which also worked.

I finish the setup and then open the Glass app on my phone, press volume up and it went up one notch, and then wouldn't go up or down. It still mutes and powers on and off.

I don't get it...the list of complaints with this thing is going up and up as this is like the 6th or 7th problem I've had in the two days of owning it.

xbox 1 not changing the channels on vip 722 receiver

Ok I am officially done with this. I went today and got an IR extender in order to try and solve this issue with the channels not changing. I installed everything correctly and still no go. The Kinect will only change the channels if it is less than 4 inches
away from the face of my dish network receiver, and only if the IR blaster from the Kinect is directly lined up with the receivers IR reader. I did try changing the name from Echostar to the Dish network and that did not help (echostar is the receivers brand
and VIP772k is the model number. I don’t know what else to do. I have worked as a technician and instructor for ten years, I have installed countless entertainment systems but this takes the cake. I must say I really feel a little cheated here on the experience
promised. PS… my Galaxy Note can change the channels from across the room and it fits in my pocket… just saying.

 

Can the Media Remote control my audio receiver WITHOUT a Kinect?

Hello, I have an Xbox One without Kinect. I have my audio receiver set up to power on and off with my Xbox, but would also like to control the receivers volume through my Xbox. Is this possible with the Media Remote if I do not have a Kinect?
