Kinect No Longer Operates

I purchased and XBox One a couple years ago and it came with the Kinect Sensor. I have only used it a couple of times after I got the setup and put it away because I don't really use it. So it has been boxed away until recently when my niece asked me if
I had one to play her Let's Dance game and I pulled it out and took it over to connect to her XBox One, and to my amazement it did not work at all. My nephew and I began the troubleshooting procedures on the support sight to no avail. It is not being recognized,
no power is getting to it, no lights, no fan, camera doesn't work...nothing at all. I then brought it back and hooked it up to mine. Still nothing after going through the t/s procedures.

Am I missing out on something? The thing is practically brand new and still had parts of the vinyl protection on it...Or is it just another piece of junk hardware I'm going to have to pay to fix or replace as it is long out of its warranty. I know I'm not
the only one that has this issue, but I would like a little bit of resolve or better guidance to get it fixed.

@TreFacTor, you will be waiting a long time. After the rumour that a Kinectless version was coming out next summer MS released a statement saying that there is no plan to release a Kinectless version. Also the Kinect can operate at closer distances, even
if you can't move around you will still be able to use it for other in game features like voice commands etc.

 

Since you had it unplugged for a while, the console likely was updated with the Kinect sensor being unplugged. The sensor itself works, but needs to be configured for the new updates of the console. Try powering down the console by the main power button
on the console by pushing it in for 10 seconds until the console shuts off. Unplug the power cord and Kinect sensor from the console. Once that is done, plug the power cord back in (but leave the Kinect unplugged, Power on the console and go to the Kinect
setting to see if it is enabled or not. It should let you enable the Kinect. Plug the sensor back in to see if the sensor can be recognized and be updated. It should turn on and update itself. There should be a area in the Kinect settings that tells you it
needs updating and a way for you to see that update in process.

If that fails, you might have to factory reset the console WITH THE KINECT PLUGGED IN. During that process, it should try to power up and update before it is configured. You might have to repeat the reset once more to fully do it so it is operational.

 

Yeah I tried all the plug it, unplug it, push the reset stuff...I have not tried the factory reset, so I'll give it a shot...

 

Try the factory reset.

What I think what happened is the console got updated and the update saw no Kinect and it disabled it in the boot up sector (like a bios in the PC). Factory resets generally revert everything, including the bios back to factory and if the Kinect is plugged
in, it will enable it there. Once reset, it should work.
