Kinect mis-recognizes people and disconnects wireless controller

So, this happens anytime my son and I are sitting in front of the console. We do look a like a bit, but my son wears glasses, is way taller.... well you get the idea. What will happen is that we would be playing together and randomly our controllers would
disconnect. So far the only way to work around it is disable the Kinect, which, as we all know, defeats the purpose of having the Xbox One to a certain degree. Once you disable the kinect, everything works fine, or if only my son or I are in the room. But
if both of us are in the room, it continuously turns off a controller saying that a controller has been disconnected. Please someone help, before I throw this mess in the trash....

    :)

Having had the same problem before, the best solution I've found is to recalibrate the Kinect using the following guide:

    support.xbox.com/.../setup-kinect-sign-in

Also periodically just do the "I wasn't recognised" thing through the settings. I've found this helps a lot. The biggest issue for me was my wife, as she's always wearing her hair differently or doing her make-up differently, after about 1 month of doing
the not recognised thing, it now recognises her 95% of the time.

    Hope that helps!

    Controllers

    Hey there Fastball,

Are your controllers disconnecting only when playing a Kinect Game or is it just overall when you're playing any games on your Xbox 360?

I would advise going through the "Xbox 360 Wireless Controller disconnects or can't connect" support
    article to troubleshoot this issue.

    I hope this helps!

    Controller/UI Not Responding

I am having the exact same problem with my xbox. The controller will not function, and my Kinect will no longer be working. A few times I could see that the xbox was reporting the kinect was disconnected and then reconnected numerous times (it was connected
the entire time). I had to shutdown the xbox and then unplug the power for a few seconds and plug it back in. This has happened numerous times and is becoming very frustrating.

There were a few times when the controller stopped working but the Kinect continued to work but was extremely slow.

There were a few times when the controller did not work and the kinect did not work at all (no dialogue about the kinect being disconnected it just wouldn't work).

My wireless router is about 50 ft from my Xbox and should be interfering. I do have a set of PX5 turtle beach wireless head phones.

    XB1 controller disconnects

If it doesn't disconnect on your brother's account, would that be when your brother is using it or when you're using it on your brother's account?

Each controller has an individual (and his/her profile) assigned to it. If you're using Kinect for recognition and decide to use someone else's controller, it could disconnect and then try to reassign the controller to the person using it. Wouldn't surprise
me if it caused problems, even if you were playing on your own profile, while using a different controller.

Also wouldn't surprise me that it could be something happening with Kinect not recognizing you, your brother, or it gets confused and doesn't know which you are.

My suggestion would be to try turning off the Kinect recognition and see if that stops the problem. It won't recognize and sign you in automatically, so you'll have to sign in manually, but at least if you find out that is what's causing the problem, then
you'll have a definite direction to head in solving it.
