    Kinect light dim & not turning off


    I've had problems with my Xbox One from the start, the latest is with the Kinect. After I turn the Xbone off I can come back later, (an hour, the next day, etc) and the main unit is off but the light on the Kinect is on, but dim. When I turn on the Xbone
    the light stays dim & when I go to settings>kinect to what the kinect sees it's just a black box that doesn't show anything & there are no options to select or anything I can get help with to troubleshoot. It's like the console does not even know the kinect
    is there. It seems like the only way I can get it to work is by unplugging the kinect & plugging it back in.

    I have restarted the console & erased it (restored to factory settings) but the problem still persists.

    Has anyone else experienced this?

    Hey OP, that's certainly odd. When the second quadrant lights up, does the first one go dim? Or do they both light up for a short time? Also, is it possible someone in the house is turning on then turning off a controller remotely?

    Xbox one glowing logos able to dim?

    It is to do with lighting. At night my Xbox lights are dark. If i turn the light on a few secs later the lights are bright. I turn the lights off and the Xbox lights dim. I asked the same question a while back and it was pointed out to me this was the reason

    I am sorry that you are having issues with your Xbox one. The issue you described does seem to be unusual. The only main thing i could think of would is that you own a defective Kinect. This can easily be resolved by contacting Xbox support at the link
    down below and telling them that your issue is, from there they will get you to send your kinect into there service center were it can be fixed. Or They may even have a solution for you!

    White power button distracting too you?

    I wish they had brightness sliders for the power light and for the Kinect light, including allowing you to turn both lights completely off.

    Originally, Kinect would detect the light level of the room and dim the lights accordingly, but MS then allowed manufacturers to disable most of the features of the Kinect in order to gain extra resources to use elsewhere and the light dimming is affected
    by that, so in many games now the lights are on max no matter how dark the room is.

    I'm pretty sure it has to do with kinect measuring the amount of light in the room. If I turn kinect off, it goes to full brightness, but when I turn it back on - it dims again because my room has low light in it.

    The console does not come back on. The light on the console when I turn it off does the following: brightens, dims off, brightens, dims off, brightens, and finally turns off ( doesn't dim). The t.v turns off when the light comes back on the first time and
    then turns back on after the second time it comes on. I have done both of your suggestions and neither worked.

    What's with the dim xbox logo light??

    It would be nice if they would allow the Kinect xbox logo on the top right of the display to b dimmed or turned off. The darn thing has given my 2013 model panasonic 65" plasma VT50 fits with image retention.

    Also, I don't notice the controller light change at all, as others above say they noticed. Console and Kinect light, yes. The controller should have an dim or off option as the light is I am sure putting a bit of extra drain on the batteries. And it's bright
    at night when playing.
