Kinect-less Xbox One available from June 9.

I think Microsoft know there's ALOT of people out there that just don't want/like Kinect, they have no interest in it. I totally appreciate that, I like it but we are all different.

We've seen already price drops, it did help sales from what I read but I still think that there's loads out there with the thinking, well if they left Kinect out, it would be even cheaper, I think for some it didn't matter how much Microsoft dropped the
price if they still left Kinect in there.

I'm not crying about it, I am a little disappointed but at the end of the day I knew price drops would come and I knew there was always a chance a day one would come where they would make Kinect optional.

I know there's a few people screaming about they want compensation now lol, similar to a lot of posts after the first price drop but I think from Microsoft side it was a good move overall because I do believe this will increase sales by quite a margin over
the coming months ..

 

What annoys me though is the "im not taking it out of the box or ever plugging it in" attitude, I mean why not just give it a try. Why be so overwhelmingly negative about it to the point of blind stubborness. (not directed at anyone personally)

As for compensation etc, not personally looking for that but I do feel a bit let down by MS over this backtrack.

Who knows, maybe Microsoft will make a nice little gesture, maybe a free game or a few months Xbox LIVE sub?

You all feel how i felt when i realised the K1 was going to be rubbish.

 

It's not really that bad a thing.

Remember how many people couldn't figure out how to use Party Chat and were convinced the machine was broken because it didn't completely ape the 360.

Gamers are ultimately people and people aren't half as clever as they think they are.

Most of the people complaining about Kinect don't even own a One.

I suppose it's nice of Microsoft to dumb the console down for these people.

Clearly talking requires vastly more intellect than pushing buttons on a controller. Now Xbox One is going to be infested with these
[Mod Removed] casuals who aren't capable of proper speech and have to resort to using physical controller.

 

Well, if MS think that not having Kinect will free up enough resources to produce a noticeable improvement in the consoles performance then clearly the removal of the peripheral is in fact making the console smarter and not dumbing it down... or not... oh
I dunno, I'm confused now, typing on this keyboard instead of talking to my laptop directly is sapping my IQ to dangerously low levels....

Removing Kinect certainly isn't dumbing the console down, its just removing something that some people wont use. Having had Kinect on the 360, I enjoyed it for a while but in the end it got boring and I stopped using it.
I simply dont want to pay for something that I wont use. It would be the same if they tried to sell me a horse with the console!

 

Would that make it a Horsebox One?

I cant see how they can stop using the Kinect resources though as surely that will impact on those who still use the Kinect. Its ok im moving my lips as I type this to keeep a grip on the situation.

 

Not sure, maybe with some games the Kinect will auto turn off?
