  2. Kinect-less Xbox One releasing on June 9.

...and I completely and utterly disagree with you Alex - it's not slow at all and not hard to find other options either. Also, they're not forcing it on you anymore than any other product in existence that has something that you don't like...

  3. Kinect-less Xbox One releasing on June 9.

This is what I don't understand - I've had no issues whatsoever with the UI on the Xbox One, even WITHOUT using the Kinect sensor. So, why does everyone else seem to think it's so clunky? I think it has far more to do with the fact that many of you are simply
not used to it. Once you get used to the idea that it is in fact different from every other console UI in existence, using it becomes easy!

Assuming your cursor starts in the main window tile:

In 0 - 1 button presses, I can access my pins, my home screen, the Xbox One store, and any notification pop-ups. In 1 button press, I can turn on my controller or my console on and do the same to turn them off. In 2 button presses I can access my friends
list and activity feed as well as all of my games and apps (if they are not pinned). I can snap my games and apps in 2 - 3 button presses. I can access any disc in the tray in 3 button presses (if I don't have it start automatically when putting a disc in,
which would be 0 button presses). Everything that opens takes less than 3 seconds which is far better than the Xbox 360, which could take 5 seconds or more (go ahead, feel free to time it). And you guys call this unintuitive?

I quite like the Kinect, I only use it every so often but it seems to work well.

A Kinectless XB1 bundle will please a lot of people and will probably encourage a lot of people to finally invest in Xbox One.

As a day one buyer I am not too fussed by this, we all took a risk buying day one so and if im honest I would personally rather have the Kinect that not anyway.

@Genchy I'm pretty sure the Kinect is ok. The app that shows you what kinect is seeing all looks good and the sound is all set up OK. Obviously I use it in low light due to the projector, but the infra red image looks spot on. What it seems to struggle with
is the black leather sofa. It can't seem to see that very well apart from the edges so I guess that accounts for the false hand gestures.

I'm moving house soon, so hopefully it will like the acoustics of the room and the light level better!

The most annoying thing for me is the what the console could have been if the RnD, and manufacturing costs hadn't been included with the idea of shipping every x bone with Kinect 2.0.

I say that as someone who uses it frequently for controlling the system and generally get on with it very well. Only if everyone had one in the box would we of ever seen anything useful for it. Oh well another peripheral sent to die and a bit of nice but
ultimately useless bit of tech to sit next to 1.0.

Is this to suggest that sales have really been that bad? the new price in the UK without Kinect is more or less the same as bundles with Kinect.

  12. Yeah I agree with haz to, I don't play many games on Kinect but being able to record things quickly and other voice commands is really useful, I hope that developers continue supporting it

    @ Major,

I think when compared to XB1 main rival then sales probably not so good.

Forgetting it's main rival though, up to yet XB1 has sold more than the 360 did in the same time period so not too bad, especially when you take into account that XB1 has only been released in 13 countries I believe?

Which reminds me, XB1 was delayed in other regions because of Kinect? wonder now if they will bring the release date forward for XB1 in these areas and then just release Kinect at a later date?

As you say with the price on Bundles now its not that different so is it about sales, or is it that MS realised that its the only way to combat the stubborness of the anti Kinect brigade, a lot of who really wouldnt give it a chance even if it is a good
piece of kit and cant really see that as an integral part of the console control it works really well and in my opinion adds a lot to the console use experience.

    @ Lofty Who

Yeah thats the confusion, its doing well set against precedents of previous consoles. Only really behind the original Wii, and the PS4 in uptake. Yet here we are sitting on discount after discount and now SKU changes. Is it that microsoft think the public
perception of Kinect is that negative they wont buy the console regardless of its price when its in the box?

Seems like a big thing to throw away no? Every ad campaign, marketing asset, sound bite is centered around this new way to control all your media and gaming. The dashboard does it change to suit kinect users (the 5million or so) or better suit joypad users
(the next five million). Does the cpu / ram over head for kinect get cut completely out of kinectless xbones?

It sure is messy, I guess the complete whitewash of all mistakes by previous management.
