Kinect-less X1 in 2014 predicted?

I have a PS4 and the PS4 camera. The voice commands aren't comparable. The PS4 can go to the home screen, go to some things on the home screen, take a snapshot, or "Log In". It has no control of applications. It can't even launch an app from the Library (though
you can get to the Library). You can't get to anything on the settings row - not Notifications, not Settings, not Profile, not even the Store. It can't power on from Standby.

There is effectively no voice command functionality on the PS4. The camera is equally limited, requiring me to do a bunch of head moving to finish facial recognition.

If Sony had stuck with their original plan of keeping the PS4 Camera included with every console they would have been a laughing stock.

 

Sonys choice to have the camera separate was more of a marketing gimmick to differentiate it from the X1. Added to its limited functionality and the lack of Skype it is more of a gimmick than the gimmick to not include it. It was a poor sale for their previous
consoles and will be the same now.

Thanks, that has saved me £50. I won't be getting the camera for my PS4 then. lol

Kinect really does feel an integral part of the Xbox One, even at this early stage. And just like the Xbox One, I look forward to the coming years and see how they both develop together, and as separate entities.

[/quote] Did I say that the PS camera was better than kinect? No. Did I say there were more voice commands on PS than xbox? No. I was merely correcting the person that said PS4 doesn't have voice commands.

 

i got a better idea. how about a $75 drop on the xbox one but with kinect and a bonus game. hmmmm forza 5?

Personally, the camera on my PS4 hardly gets any use, except for when i am streaming on Ustream/Twitch/PS Live. Or if my son is playing Playroom. But i still have it attached. I am not a tin foil hat wearer, so that does not bother me. It is just so much
smaller than the Kinect V2.

They have never said they would not make a SKU without the Kinect. Panello's words are "We still believe in Kinect. We aren’t interested in splitting the development base. " I assume "we" means the developers of the Xbox One. Although that may change depending
on shareholders, and the amount of money they can bring in, by making a version without the Kinect

And sorry Ice it does have voice commands, You cannot say it doesn't when it does. Effectively it does, It either has voice commands or it does not. It cannot be both, and having tried both, Both the Kinect and PS4 camera have Voice commands. End of story,
as to which is better, it is up to people to decide, Yes the Kinect has more, But the PS4 voice commands work well enough on games.

Ugh this topic needs to die already.

But an interesting observation is: You people keep begging for a kinectless version, and the PS people are scouring the lands for the PS Camera which is only half of what the kinect is tech/ability- wise. People come in to the store every day asking for
that damn camera and we are constantly sold out. I dont understand you people.
