when i went to configurations i noticed that the xbox is losing connection to kinect

i already tried to reconnect the wires but did not work

Had the same thing happen to my titan fall bundle console on the 2nd day of ownership. The console kept saying the kinect was unplugged. Exchanged the system at game stop and downloaded my games again only to find out the mic that came with this one doesn't
work. I really dont want to download everything for a third time, but I'm not sure that GS will replace the mic by itself. I was dead set on getting a PS4, changed my mind because I've always been an xbox guy, and the titan fall bundle seemed like a good buy,
but now I've spent more time troubleshooting and going through setups than anything. Would've eased the pain a bit if GS just swapped out bundles, but instead I received a normal xbox one console box with a sleeve instead of the pre order box I originally
had, and they cut it open to remove the tf code. I'd be curious to see how many of those codes get sent back to microsoft, and how many get sold by someone who works for a game store. I obviously don't need a second tf code, but maybe selling it or trading
it for a different game would've left less of a bad taste in my mouth.

Mine started doing the same thing after working great for a 1 1/2 years. I use mine for controlling my Xbox and TV.. This is very annoying and not the way this XboxOne was sold. When they switched to Win 10 OS on the console they obviously have
some code problems with the Kinect and haven't bothered to fix them yet. I am starting to think that I should have both the PlayStation. ***.

 

Make sure you are plugging your XB1 directly into a wall socket and not a power strip.

 

Yup, having the same problem here as well. Console is plugged directly into wall socket.

 

Just noticed this thread after mine keeps Turing off. Ill try it in the wall rather than power strip.

 

I have also this weird problem with my Kinect and XBOX One.

 

Same problem here since December. Making all Kinect games unusable. Thinking it's a software problem.

 

It appears that there is an intermittent Kinect driver issue, which turns it on, off and calibrates it. Yesterday I found there was a problem of Kinect sign in, giving me a code 0x80a40008, but also noticed there was an issue of the Kinect working properly.
I did a hard reset, and factory reset, but when I did a factory reset, the Kinect refused to calibrate before I entered my sign in information (it should calibrate the Kinect before the sign in info is entered, not after). I redid the factory reset which then
it calibrated the Kinect before I entered my sign in info.

With the Kinect drivers, it turns it on through software (not hardware switching) as well as overall function of it. Persistent cashe might be part of the problem, where the cashe is overloading the driver function, but I think the driver in the Kinect might
be the sole source of the problem, where the drivers in the console and in the Kinect don't communicate well. Might need a revision of the driver software in both the Kinect and console to resolve the problem.

 

I had this problem. My kinect would be fine for a little while then would start turning off then back on again. I seemed to have fixed it by cleaning all the dust out of fan on the back. I opened mine too and got all the dust out from inside too. I done
it yesterday and it hasnt done it since. So seems to be an overheating issue

Cleaning it should not require taking it apart. Normally the fan is off, and only runs if it overheats. The software drivers turn things on and off, including the fan. Blowing it out with a vacuum blower or a small air can should be sufficient.

The main issue is the driver communication between the 2 devices. I think though the driver software never has done well regarding the fan operation, where the fan normally is off even when it is on. If the Kinect is on, I would think the fan should always
be running. I think they did it like they did to prevent dust from building up through the circuit board, but did not consider it overheating. The driver communication needs to be improved where the operation is not affected by the cashe load on it.

 

Yea your right you dont need to take it apart but just did to make sure. there was a bit of build up behind the fan too thou.

 

There shouldn't be a buildup of dirt there. Normally the fan is off, and if there is a buildup, and the fan would be on, it might be located too close to a heat source, forcing the fan to turn on. I keep mine on the corner of the fireplace mantle, away from
the TV, which is above it by 17-18 inches. Mine has never overheated, or collected that much dirt, but I clean it regularly by blowing air through it.

 

well whether or not or there should be dirt building up inside im telling you noe there was. and its been over 24hrs now since i done it and it has messed about since. im not saying everyone should open the kinects ups and clean the but at least get the
hoover hose on it and give it a got clean out.. If mine starts doing it again ill report back straight away. bear in mind ive had my xbox since launch day and never thought to clean the kinects fan before. to be totally honest i forgot it had a fan on it.

 

I was told by MS support that it should be placed in an open area not to close to objects or heat. They don't recommend opening it up, but do recommend making sure the venting is clean. Blowing it out with compressed air is not recommended by staff, but
vacuum hose is sufficient to blow dirt out of it.

I do think the software should be changed for the fan operation, where the fan is on whenever the unit is on. I do think it is possible to have the settings of it changed where it is possible to manually configure it to the needs of the user.
