Kinect keeps turning off by itself

Yup, you just have a faulty Kinect.

I do as well, does the same thing. Sometimes it wont even turn on at all. Seems like its gotten better after the last update for some reason but its not going to just fix its self.

I need to send it in, but i've just been lazy since I have an extended warranty lmao.

Apparently its been a pretty widespread problem.

My Kinect has been turning off since I bought the xbox one 3 years ago first kinect I had to unplug whole system 2nd kinect I bought I had to unplug kinect from the back. Would turn on and off and stay off till I unplugged it and
was sluggish with my voice commands. When verizon fios upgraded me from a generation 2 router to a generation 3 router a few weeks ago both kinects work very well and never turns off or miss a voice command. It has something to do with the router.

My Kinect 2.0 was also turning on and off every few seconds. I tried unplugging the Kinect, then unplugging the power supply to my Xbox One, waiting a few minutes, and then plugging back in the Kinect and the Xbox. That did not work for me. So I tried the
next suggestion. I reset my Xbox One to factory defaults and that too did not work. During the setup process, it detected the Kinect. But a few seconds later told me it was disconnected. Then it kept turning on and off. Now I'm sitting here waiting to re install
all 280gb of games and DLC.

If anyone else has a similar problem, I suggest trying the unplugging method first. If that doesn't work, contact Microsoft and file for a replacement. Don't bother resetting your Xbox One to factory defaults. Unless of course you have like one or two games.

Mine turned off and on repeatedly. I tried everything. I hard reset, I factory defaulted, I made sure it was plugged into wall outlet instead of surge protector. I connected my kinect to another xbox one and tested it and it never shut off. I noticed in
the settings that the "Turn off gestures when watching video" was unchecked. I hooked it back to my xbox and unchecked the "Turn off gestures" box, and it has never turned off since. It has been a week and it has not turned off, not reset once. And before
it did it alot, everyday. Hope this helps.

I am having the same issue. The kinect will continue to reboot for awhile then turns off completely. I am able to change channels with oneguide but after it changes the channel it says please plug in the kinect. I am also able to turn the tv on/off with
it but the voice commands do not work.

I made a thread in the support forum about 2 weeks ago.

Ms rep replied....but ....

Steps didnt work , I dont have another 1 to try , and I am not paying for a repair .

Mine varies from lasting a few mins - to a few hours , I doubt it's heat or airflow.

I've unplugged my console and plugged it back in multiple times and it only fixes it temporarily. I'm about to take the kinect in for a new one. Also, when the kinect turns on and off randomly it always messes with my controller's connection to the Xbox.

Very *** *** manufacturing for 500$. My Xbox, and my Xbox 360, both still work with no problems and they are first edition of each generation of Xbox's. The Xbox one seems to be made cheap and unreliable the more I use it. I just got mine last year December,
and the Kinect is already acting up and turning off. My headsets fail easily, and my Xbox is turning off by it self after the latest update. SIGH*

Bro. Its a factory defect. I had three kinects broke on me. First time they replaced it. The replaced one would donthe same like u said after a year. I got a third one from another xbox and it happened again a year later. Its microsofts issue. They wont
admit theres something wrong with it.

Resetting factory defaults did not work. Don't waste your time just return it. The Kinect is broken.

ITS FOR LIFE

Mine has been randomly saying it's disabled (showing the icon in the top-right of the screen). A hard-reset (holding the power button down until the system shuts off) temporarily fixes the issue, but it is happening every couple of days or so.

I'll try unplugging the cables while powered off and then reconnect. Hopefully this will resolve my issues as well.

ITS FOR LIFE

My Kinect kept doing this, this weekend. I turned off my Xbox disconnected the power cord and disconnected the Kinect cord too. After about 30 seconds I plugged in the Xbox power cord and turned it on. After i came on i went to the settings clicked Kinect
then plugged in my Kinect. Its working fine now. But it is a worrisome problem that i fear will get worse in the future.
