Kinect keeps turning off by itself

means that it's on its last legs. My second one is doing the same thing. Seems like they're not made to stay on for too long

Is my hardware at fault?

Since the last update my kinect keeps turning itself off every 2 minutes any ideas?

 

Xbox one keeps turning on by itself

for some reason my Xbox one keeps turning on by itself, my Kinect is unplugged and my controller is no where near me and it takes a minute to turn off too, it never used to do that

 

make sure you xbox one is NOT plugged into an external surge protector, that was my problem it wasn't getting enough power to keep the xbox and Kinect going, and don't worry the x1 power brick has surge protection in it, I know there are smart people "unlike
me" who read the manual but I didn't even think about that. anyways if you think your Kinect is broken try this first befor sending it in for repairs

i have the same issue. My kinect keeps turning off all the time. What should i do?

 

That's weird. I have the day one edition Xbox One console I got in November 2013 and mine is working fine.

It could be a software issue. Microsoft has released lots of system updates (on average, one every month since November 2013). Otherwise, check your connections, make sure they're clean and have zero dust and grease.

Also, go to settings and then Kinect, and then recalibrate it. Make sure it's positioned so that it can see you clearly in your sitting and gaming area. Also switch between what else Kinect can see. There's 3 modes. shadowy, infrared, and normal mode. Make
sure there's adequate lighting in your room, and that bright sunlight beaming through the window(s) in your room isn't interfering with what Kinect can visually see.

Otherwise if it is still under warranty and after troubleshooting, it could be a hardware defect. And you can get a new one (replacement) for free if it's still under warranty.

 

same problem. it started couple of monthes ago, but now it got worse...

 

yep same here and I’m it sucks. I got the Kinect for the advantage of voice commands, but now it won’t even stay on. And I even disassembled it and everything, I say nothing wrong on the inside besides the little fan not moving. It can certainly still turn
on, just staying on is impossible. The 3 red lights flash for a second, the white logo lights up for about 30 seconds then it turns off and repeats. Really wish there was a cheap solution

 

My Kinect has been turning off since I bought the xbox one 3 years ago first kinect I had to unplug whole system 2nd kinect I bought I had to unplug kinect from the back. Would turn on and off and stay off till I unplugged it and was sluggish with my voice
commands. When verizon fios upgraded me from a generation 2 router to a generation 3 router a few weeks ago both kinects work very well and never turn off or miss a voice command. It has something to do with the router.
