KINECT Issues, Question....IR Blaster, No hand controls

So I just got a Refurbished system and a Brand new Kinect for XBox One. Is the Kinect suppose to work as an IR Blaster as well? I also bough the remote for the system to use for TV control. I still have to point it directly at the XBox One, is that correct
or should the Kinect see it as well?????? I had also purchased the IR Extension to see if that works, NOTHING, I still need to point at the system, is this as intended?? I would assume NO. Is this a system issue then????? I have even tried getting right up
to all sensors and Kinect.

I will also hold my hand up to the Kinect, Nothing, no detection. Hears my voice OK, but I cannot use my hands at all and yes all my settings are on for Kinect. Thsi si SOOO close to break out must have potential for the future fo living room control, but
I feel I am not getting all the use out of it with no IR detection from Kinect for Remote.

Nope, the Kinect is the IR blaster, no Kinect, no control over your tv, set top box etc

 

can the xbox one turn my tv on aswell?

This is a good question. Does the kinect ir blaster require line of site to the devices I want to control?

 

It sounds like your system is working correctly.

The Xbox One system uses the Kinect as an IR blaster to control your TV and/or sound system, but as you've discovered, it is not an IR receiver, unfortunately. It is necessary to point the Xbox One media remote at the console.

With this month's operating system update, dashboard navigation via motion control was removed completely. Voice control is still available. MS also apparently removed the ability to wirelessly sync controllers via the Kinect.
