Kinect issue

hi, I am not sure if this is the right place to post this but I am experiencing my first issue with my xbox one and its starting to bug me.



so to my problem, yesterday morning and afternoon I was playing my xbox and it was working fine and I turned it off around 17:00 to eat my dinner, when I turned it back on at around 19:20 I couldn't log in to my profile and I had the "Kinect is unplugged"
message in the top right corner of the screen. I checked the xbox live status website and it said there was as issue with people not being able to log in to there profiles but said nothing about peoples kinects not working and even though the log in issue
is has been fixed I am still getting the "Kinect is unplugged" message, I have tried unplugging and plugging it back in, I also tried reseting it using the steps in the trouble shooting guide but nothing seems to be working.



anyone else having this issue or more importantly how to fix it?

Kinect issue

Sorry but the chat feature for the Kinect will only work when one person is signed in. If another person signs in the feature will not function and both people will need to use headsets.

I have done everything on the list except restoring to default because I really don't want to have to wait ages for everything to reinstall and I am not sure if I will still have all my data. at this point I am not even sure whether its the Kinect or the
xbox, its almost like the kinect's drivers have got corrupted or something and as it only stopped working when xbox live went screwy I think that might have something to do with it.

 

I found with mine if I looked at the fan on the rear of the device, it was no longer running. Similar situation to yours. Turned on my console with xbox on and it was working. Within minutes, without an update, it went offline and hasn't come online again.
I did every step including wiping it and it did no good.

One thing I can say is when you wipe it back to factory default settings, all your game settings are saved on the cloud. I re-installed everything and all my saves, unlocks, etc were loaded again on the first cloud sync. Imo I think once it gets to this
point, factory reset in most cases based on these forums do no good. I placed a repair order for my kinect, and obviously am still waiting but I didn't bother with the console since everything else is working fine. Just hoping when the replacement eventually
shows up it works again without any more issues.

 

well you were right, restoring factory settings did nothing (I didnt think it would) and now not only am I going to have to send the Kinect back but I also have to reinstall everything witch will probably take 4-5 days due to the Xbox's slow install speed.

Sorry to hear, seems there's a large number of reports of kinects dying for seemingly no reason. Anyways, pp, best of luck with the repair order, I'll be updating the thread I linked when mine finally ships if I remember to.

 

yeah, fingers crossed it is the Kinect and not the xbox, I would hate to have to send that back as well. right now what's annoying me most is having to reinstall everything, in the last hour all its done is angry birds and 7% of thief, It has still got COD
ghosts/BF4/dead rising 3/lego marvel super heros/powerstar golf/spark/forza 5(the digital version witch will take forever) and all the add-ons for each game, its ridiculous.

hi iceman, I did restore factory settings but it did nothing and now it looks like I cant even get a replacement kinect due to the messed up replacement website.
