Kinect is failing.

@ Mogwaii Warrior, All I have to say and I would like to ask all of you is, if Microsoft came to you and said would you rather have a more powerful console without the Kinect or a less powerful console with the Kinect I would 100% take the former without
a question.

Yes, what some people cannot seem to grasp is, all some of us want is a games machine, we don't use our Xboxes for Skype, TV, DvD, Kinect games, so yes, a Kinectless unit at the same price with a controller and or a game would have been very nice.

But the hardware would be the same.. the software would be the same... just because they did not ship it with a sensor will not magically get that 10% of power some people claim the K2 uses. You would be buying essentially a very gimped console... I dont
get that reasoning TBH... like buying a Jeep 4X4 and asking Jeep to sell it to you without a stick to flip it into 4WD, as it will save money.. as we all know that is what it comes down to... $100 difference between the consoles... If both were the same price..
none of these NO KINECT threads would ever be created...

 

The hardware and the software in the 360s shipped with and without kinect was the same, but we had kinectless and kinect skus, kinect since it launched is and probably always will be in the make up of the Xbox, but I don't see why the players that don't
want kinect can't have the choice of gaming on Xbox without it in the bundle.

 

I am confused, if Microsoft did not reserve some "CPU / OS" then things like Snap, Party Chat, Skype, Walkthroughs etc would not work. Yes 10% was being a bit over zealous and the 3% would be a much better percentage.

But you cant have 0% as the people with and who enjoy the extra functionality the Kinect brings would then miss out, therefore it can't be changed in the future as 5 million owners would kick off.

I can see the argument many use for just having a kinectless SKU because they do not want it, or use it, but it effects more then just you. It effects the whole Xbox community, having it included means it's a standard component that can be utilised by developers,
relied upon to be there.

The way I see it is a developer would not have extra button support for the controller if a third party brought out a 5 button pad because the base user percentage does not warrant it, but if the base user percentage was 100% then they would. Same goes for
Kinect, now the base user percentage is 100% games will come, and developers will use it.

I would rather take the Xbox One with Kinect. I already have a PC, so whatever way I looked at it I was downgrading whether I got the PS4 or Xbox One.

 

I think if I had a choice between kinect or no kinect but 3% more processing power I would still go kinect.

I love voice commands, Skype, auto login, xbox fitness and other user controller detection. That's just what I use regularly.

I hope dx12 is the big step AMD, Nvidia, Microsoft and Intel have said it is, then that 3% will be nothing.

 

I didn't like having to buy the kinect 2.0 but i let the hype fool me. I bought kinect sports rivals and its no better than a ps3 move game in either graphics or control. The champion creation was neat but the game falls shot. Sad since its the flagship
game for a forced peripheral.

 

Of course I would prefer a more powerful, fleshed-out console, without the "dead weight". That's what I wanted in the first place.

I think we would have a lot few issues and problems (games crashing, extremely sluggish OS, general performance etc...), had Kinect never existed. Effectively prioritize those resources.

 

That's a shame the demo played ok

your reason for this belief is what? My PS4 has wigged out. My PS4 has crashed. I use it far less than the Xbox One.

 

^ Two separate consoles and two manufacturers. Why make the comparison? Because one has problems, the other should be allowed to have a plethora?

 

My day one Xbox 360, with greatly out-dated hardware - games never crashed, OS never moved at a snails pace, far less performance issues (at least mine didn't). Now that's a comparison.
