Kinect ir sensor

After hours of looking online and calling Xbox support no one could tell me what was wrong with my kinect for my Xbox one and after being told my warranty expired over a year ago and that I would have to pay for shipping and handling and 69.99 for a refurbished
kinect with only a 30 day warranty. Then it could take a couple weeks to get to me. By this point I was boiling over with anger and said stick your refurbished where the sun don't shine. For one found a new one for 89.99 and would of gotten a year warranty
for 20 dollars more. Microsoft you need to step up your customer support, us gamers spend a lot of money on your products like your crappy controllers. (Xbox one controllers) Then you (Microsoft) out source your calling centers to country's where we can barely
understand what they r trying say to us just so u can save money. So tell me why after saying fok it I took apart my kinect and to my amazement I found one the inside lens of my kinect was a milky colored film and with my eye glass cleaner cloth and putting
it back togrther plugging it in and guess what happened. That's right the problem was fixed and just like when I pulled it out the box. So Microsoft maybe with the out source extra money you're saving and from us gamers u you're ripping off with a 69.99 lens
clean job. Maybe you sould educate your employees on how to properly identify problems with your equipment. I spent 6 dollars at Walmart for the screwdriver set and 5 minutes on YouTube to see how to tear it open and 20 mins opening, cleaning off the lens
and lens covers, and putting it back together. That is worth 70 dollars to you. Maybe you should fire the team you have and hire me. I'm cheaper and we all know how much you love to save money.

IR port not working with Kinect disconnected... can't change channels with separate IR emitter cable?

G'day Loose! The Kinect sensor is how Xbox One relays information with IR technology. When you want to change the channel, that signal is sent via IR from Kinect to your IR blaster or set top box, so having the Kinect sensor plugged in is necessary for this
feature. You don't have to use Kinect for anything else if you don't want to though. =) Even if it's plugged in, you're not required to use voice or hand gestures to control the console.

 

Why you cant unplug the kinect

The IR port was for syncing (and the remote)... So is the sensor in the Kinect (less the remote), they've said as much... Once synced the controller and "turned off" the Kinect as we can choose to do, what purpose does the sensor serve?
