Kinect IR Burst

I have my Kinect mounted on top of my flat screen tv with a mount kit. When I say "xbox on" it will turn my cable box on but not my tv. However, if I sit or stand in front of my tv when I say "xbox on" it will turn on. This makes me think that the IR blaster
just isn't hitting the tv unless I'm sitting in front of it. Is this happening to anyone else? Any advice on getting it to work with it mounted on top of my tv?

Xbox One not always turning on attached devices

So is the on/off function an IR burst from the kinect? If so, I did not know that! And I'm just wondering if repositioning my devices slightly will change things. I did a hard reset yesterday, all cables out etc and today the tv is the only thing that wont
turn on. I wonder if I've half blocked the IR on the tv...

The IR burst the Kinect sends is not of sufficient length to turn the TV on.

When done with a normal remote this model requires signal for about a second of you holding the power button down.

IR sent by Kinect is the correct signal and is received by the TV as you can see the power LED on the telly start to flash, it's just the signal does not continue for long enough for the device on.

 

Recalibrate it and adjust where the floor is when it asks... it's all I got.

 

Ever since I mounted the Kinect sensor on top of my TV, it hasn't been auto-signing me in upon start-up, which is weird since the camera can actually see more of the room than it could have before.

anime.. try adjusting your sensor to poke out a little bit further. sounds like the bezel frame from your TV might be obstructing it... once done.... recalibrate

 

AVD, I know about needing to be visible, but it's not seeing me when I'm less than 2 ft. from the sensor while I'm standing because the camera is set at a downward angle to maximize what it sees in the room - this effectively creates the opposite affect
of the original Kinect; instead of being too far away, I'm too close (unless I'm sitting down, in which case it sees me - this unfortunately means I have to set a chair dead center in the room). Furthermore, my family's den is big enough that if I sit on the
couch on the far wall, I'm too far away from the sensor for it to detect me unless I'm leaning forward, which is bad posture in its own righ.

These are minor quibbles at best and in all likelihood are indeed fixable, but it's going to take a quite a bit of moving around (for the sensor, the furniture, and myself) and I'm not exactly looking forward to that. :|

 

Tohehllnbak, the stand for the sensor has no forward or backward adjustment to it - it just screws in and sits on the top of the TV.

This is the Kinect stand my brother and I use.

 

tohellnbak, I tried getting it as far forward as possible and calibrate it but it still wont turn off/on my tv unless I'm in front of it. I think your right about the tv bezel in the way so it just wont work for me.
