  1. Kinect interfering with Uverse stock IR remote

I have extreme lag when using my Uverse remote to do anything with the Xbox One connected: change channel, select recording, rewind/play/ffwd a program, etc. The remote is just extremely laggy.

BUT!! When I turn the Kinect off in the settings, everything works just fine. I have absolutely no problems with my DVR/STB, but I lose out on all Kinect functionality.

My setup details (since I unsuccessfully tried to find a solution via Twitter conversation with Xbox Support, and they had asked for these):

    • Standard Motorola set-top box (STB)/DVR Motorola VIP1200
    • Day One Xbox One console
    • watching TV via the TV app on my console (yes, they asked this)
    • Happens when using both the stock remote that came with the Motorola STB, AND when using the Xbox One media remote
This also means that using the OneGuide via media remote or voice-control is useless beyond looking at TV listings. Selecting a channel results in the console outputting the wrong TV channel. It mimics typing the channel out (which you can see on the TV
screen), but it misses some numbers; instead of typing 1-2-3-4 to get you to Channel 1234, it will more likely type just 2-3 or 2-4 -- sending you to the wrong channel.

Again, though, turning off the Kinect remedies all of these problems. Makes me wish I had waited for the release of the Kinect-less box and saved $100.

    :)

Several factory restores after accessory purchases

So here is the newest update. I tested the theory that the Kinect signal is interfering with the remote signal. I did this by sitting on my couch where I typically sit and held a piece of paper so that it blocks direct line of sight between the kinect and
the remote's IR sensor but not blocking the remote's line of sight from the console. The remote works perfectly in that situation. I am no microsoft engineer but that all but proves to me that somehow the Kinect IR blaster's signal is somehow interfering with
the remotes IR signal. I do not know the specifics of these two devices to know how that happens but it is happening. I also tried moving the Kinect below my tv instead of above and the remote still does not work with blocking the Kinect signal somehow. I
am left to hope that the update that I was told about corrects this issue so that I can use my remote the way it is designed to work.

  3. Media Remote

    Hey everyone,

For those having trouble controlling volume with the IR remote while it works fine via voice: this is an issue with IR interference as the IR from the remote and the Kinect are interfering and keeping the appropriate IR signals from reaching your TV.

The best workaround is to angle the remote in a way that it points more toward the Xbox than the TV. For instance, my Xbox is 2-3 lower than my TV at home, so I angle the remote downward when I send volume.

Other options include using IR extension cables instead of the Kinect or to re-arrange the devices.

I understand the frustration here, and I'm sorry that you're experiencing it.

My Uverse remote will not control my Denon AVR-2112ci volume

I assume you are Juiced46 on AVS. If so there are some interesting things to note. The Uverse remote is controlling the volume on the TV, from the sound of it. I think this because the Xbox does not receive incoming IR codes. It only sends out IR codes.
So, in essence the Uverse remote is still controlling the volume of the TV instead of the Denon. SmartGlass works though telling the Xbox to send the signal to turn the volume up or down. So boiling this down from what info I have:

    1. Does the Xbox One work via voice commands to turn the volume up/down on Denon?

    2. Does SmartGlass work to turn the volume up/down on the Denon?

-The Uverse not working after hooking up the Xbox One makes no mechanical sense to me as the functions have nothing in common. The only thing that would make that change is physical blocking of the Denon's IR port (although I don't know offhand what the
Uverse remote is supposed to control via additional hardware.

    3. Is it safe to assume the Uverse remote is factory stock or is it an aftermarket (like Harmony)?

Let me know PlaidLeaf981. Sorry for the millions of question. -Cheers
