Kinect gestures are finally awesome!?

So, I received an interesting message from a friend of mine, who apparently got the next update as part of the 1405 preview update roll-out. After the update, he said that the Kinect sensor gesture controls were insanely faster, perfectly precise, and actually
fun & easier to use. Granted this is 2nd hand information, but it makes me kind of excited, if true, and so I wanted to share this possible up-coming improvement with you guys. I'm in the preview update too so again, if it's true, I should get this update
soon as well. When I do, I'll let you guys know more. In the meantime, do you guys think this is true? Are any of you guys in the preview update and are experiencing anything remotely similar to what my friend has mentioned? Give it a try and let us know,
if you get it before me! For you naysayers who don't believe in the Kinect sensor, I simply want to know from you guys whether you think my friend was pulling my leg or not.

Should I buy a Xbox One?

Like Lei Fang said, I just got my Xbox One last week as well but with Kinect! Honestly the Kinect is really worth it. Voice commands are great and super fun lol. And I'm just learning about gestures and they are awesome too. So if i were you, I'd go with
the Xbox One Kinect bundle. I'm loving my Kinect in less than a week of having it already.

Hah... ease of use... should see me trying to figure out the Kinect gestures without reading up on it anywhere. It is probably about what one would expect from a monkey. I finally figured out what works though haha.

 

I dont use voice commands and would appreciate it if you tried the gestures for yourself before getting all hyped up. And the latest update has been out for a day now. Keep up.

24, I did try it for myself and as far as I can tell, it appears to be the same, but then again, I haven't received an update for about a week or 2 now. My guess is that as part of the roll-out I haven't yet received the most recent update, or my friend
is in fact, pulling my leg - which is why I was asking around.

Voice commands do seem a bit more responsive for me personally, can't comment on the gestures tho don't use them tho it still thinks the back of my chair is a hand -_-

 

Maybe you should hide the back of your chair then, Soldier.

 

It's unbelievable how fast and accurate they are now. I have my X1 set to energy saver, so I check for updates. I've updated 3 times since the beginning of the 1405. After playing Titanfall last night I checked for updates; got one for roughly 256Mbs. First
thing I noticed is the camera "recognized" me, so I went to the Kinect setup where usually that sees me as "guest". After that I raised my hand...it immediately showed up on the T.V. (Usually takes a couple times for this to happen.), so I played around some
more.

In the ten minutes of playing around the Kinect NEVER failed to register a gesture, was blistering fast on movement, and NOT ONCE lost my hand/hands.

I was very impressed. If it stays this way...I'll be using gestures more.

There's not much chance of my hiding the back of the chair, unless i sit on the floor or sit 2mm from the kinect, it has quite a wide view angle and my chair back is wider than me lol

 

I have noticed that the voice commands for my Kinect have been going down hill with the console updates.... (re-calibrated numerous times...)

If 1405 is that good...... then I'm all smiles. I got so use to "Xbox.......".... I even slipped up last night at the mother-in-laws and said "Xbox go home" after a DVD finished playing...... no X1 in site...

 

The motion controls are wretched in my opinion, but since voice commands do not work in this country I will try it again tonight to see if they work better. I'll let you know GG.

 

Wow, they actual worked. Still not my cup of tea, but they worked. Now all they have to do is activate voice controls for this country and I won't have to bury the Kinect everyday.

 

I still haven't seen any update on my console yet...

Still, I appreciate the response bran, it's not the 1 I was expecting & that makes me happy.

 

Just tried ( I am on beta ) have to say is a marked improvement, can speak a lot clearer with voice, no need to emphasise words and hand gestures where more accurate and responsive. Only tried for a few mins so will let you guys know in more detail when
I get to spend some more time with them.
