    Kinect for Xbox One - different versions?


    Hi all,

    Apologies for the noob question, but has there been more than one version of the Kinect sensor for Xbox One? Or are they all the same? I'm looking to buy a used one but want to make sure I'm getting the latest one, if there is such a thing.

    Xbox 360 Kinect games will not work with a xbox one Kinect.

    The Kinects are different.

    Urgently await the backward compatibility of the Harry Potter game for kinect. We believe in the competence of this company, Microsoft. Antecipadente thank the understanding of all and wait a positive response.

    Sorry to say but no Xbox 360 Kinect games will be made backwards compatible as they will not work with the Xbox One Kinect.

    The 360 Kinect is different from the Xbox One Kinect.

    Always risky buying second hand, plus there are so many deals out there I can't imaging a second hand one being cost effective, you can sell any games you get including digital downloads and you get a warrenty.

    But all xbox one kinects are kinect V2, so they are the same.

    Always risky buying second hand, plus there are so many deals out there I can't imaging a second hand one being cost effective, you can sell any games you get including digital downloads and you get a warrenty.

    But all xbox one kinects are kinect V2, so they are the same.

    The only one that works with the Kinect is the 360 S. Because that is the only console version that has the input slot in the back for the Kinect Sensor. The Kinect Sensor plug may look close to USB but is slightly different.

    electroflying you clearly have not grasped what this actually means, there is no difference between the kinectless and kinected xbox one's, the hardware remains the same, even in a slim version of the console the hardware will be the same, no difference,
    the 10% that is released wont effect the kinects performance on the system itself because it is reserved for in-game features for the Kinect not for things like xbox record that or xbox go home all that will still be useable on a kinectless xbox if you want
    to plug a Kinect in, all that's changing is for a developer to have the option to use that 10% for Kinect features or for something else in-game.

    I believe there are two different types of Kinect, one built for Windows, and one built for XBone.

    The Kinect for Windows version (via this hub) doesn't work too well on the XBone, but an Xbone Kinect should work fine. Why there are two versions I have no idea.

    I will be purchasing one anyway (£30) and if it doesn't work then it's going back to the shop. I've got nothing to lose :)
