Kinect detection issues on floor exercises?

Hi all -

Recently moved and had to redo where my Xbox is setup for my fitness routine. It is having a heck of a time detecting me on the floor movements now and is killing my score!

I have a black fitness matt and dark brown hardwood floors. Not sure if it's that combination. My last place had light colored carpets with my black workout matt.

I reset the green floor before every workout and calibrate the kinect so it's setup properly.

Any tips on getting the floor exercises better detected? I asked the Microsoft support people and they only double checked the kinect setup which is working fine. I sent an email to the app developers (http://www.sumo-digital.com/#)
and haven't heard back yet.

Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.

Cannot calibrate Kinect since last update

I and many other people have the same problem. Unfortunately, there's no way to roll back the update, and customer service treats it like nothing's wrong, and that you should "suggest" that it be fixed. So here's the "suggestion." Please go upvote it, because
its a stupid democratic system :-(

Several of you have indicated issues with the Kinect struggling with exercises based on the floor.

Go through the Kinect setup again and lower the floor that the Kinect sees. Hopefully that improves it for you.

I love when Kinect is tracking you doing floor exercises like, say, situps, and you simply DISAPPEAR from the tracking box and you lose points.

Xbox Fitness requires a good amount of room to work properly, i have a small living room and have about 7ft of floor space between my TV and couch, and that was just enough to do most of the exercises, some would not register my movements because i ended
up too close to the Kinect or not far enough back when doing floor exercises. just something to think about.

xboxivesy - yes, that's the one I have. I got mine through Amazon for about $130.

It seems to blend into the background most of the time so the camera doesn't have any issues. Now and again, I see some interference on an edge but it can be corrected with a recalibration of Kinect.

It is a great mat and I wouldn't be without it - it did make a difference to how Kinect picks up floor exercises and it mostly works well without slipping around. Since moved a few months ago, my new exercise room has a fluffier carpet so the mat does slip
a bit (cardio from side to side) but it didn't slip at all on a rougher carpet. It would probably do well on a laminate floor and not slip at all.
