Kinect, console, and Cortana *****XBOX STAFF PLEASE READ

I have the GOW edition xbox one s and the kinect. I was using the 'hey cortana' feature but it no longer works. For a time it would understand "Hey cortana, xbox on" but that would be the only command. that would work. If I say 'hey cortana....blah blah
blah' it hears me and just gets stuck in listening mode. I have tried the following:

- Restart console multiple times

- Unplug console and all adapters overnight to hard reset the system

- Recalibrated the kinect multiple times

- Toggled the 'use kinect for chat' option several times

- Used the headset to communicate with cortana

The light does illuminate on the kinect so I know it hears me which makes me think it is something with the console. Help!!

Cortana is bad

If you read the known issues with this latest update you will see that many of the issues you mentioned are covered there as for the console not hearing the commands correctly if you are using Kinect please re run the audio setup to see if that helps further.

Also if you are having issues with Cortana I would encourage you to post your problems in the Cortana section of the preview forums as you will find there is a member of Microsoft staff there actively engaging with the preview community and showing lots
of interest in any reported problems.

Cortana does not work!

I would try power cycling and retry using Cortana from there. First, try restarting your console. If Cortana still doesn't work, try a Physical reset (instructions
for both in that link). While the console is off, ensure that all of your cables are connected nice and snug in the back. Power the console back on and try again. If you're using the Kinect for Cortana, try running through your Kinect setup again in the settings
to make sure it's configured appropriately for Cortana to hear you well.

I'm sorry to hear about the Cortana features. If you
disable Cortana, do the classic Xbox commands work at all? And have you tried unplugging the Kinect when you go to use the headset to use Cortana? Another troubleshooting step that I don't see listed in your steps (thank you for the list!) is a

factory reset of your console. You can keep your games and apps with one of the options and I'd definitely recommend that one.

I have the same issue with Cortana and am losing my patience with Microsofts complete lack of Cortana on X Box One support.

 

I have never been able to get my Kinect voice commands to work. Years of yelling at the Xbox. Thought I would try Hey Cortana hoping that it fixed the issue. Nothing. Barely works. My First Kinect failed after warranty and paid 69 to replace from Microsoft.
Nothing changed. Exactly the same. That feature has never worked. Feel cheated.
