Kinect bricked after update

I can't seem to get an answer regarding this, so I'm posting here.

My Kinect was working fine until the new dashboard update. Now, it doesn't even get power. I've been through all troubleshooting steps at least three times, and support tells me I have to send it in to get (and pay for) a new one.

I think it's got something to do with the update. It worked right up until the update, and hasn't worked since.

Are there others with this issue?

Xbox update has broken my console...twice!

Hi, when I installed the February system update my Kinect bricked within 12 hours, Xbox support very helpfully sent me a new Kinect and all was sorted. On Saturday I installed the March update and the whole console bricked within 12 hours, completely and
utterly dead! Wondering if anyone else has had issues with the most recent updates?

Thankfully Amazon have sent a new console out immediately and it came today (Sunday)

Yes, others have had other issues with the Kinect.

There is a trick to try to get the Kinect working, and sometimes it works if there is no power to it (which is OS controlled).

Go to the Kinect settings and make sure the Kinect settings are off. Turn off the console by pushing the power button on the console (as with a hard reset). Unplug the Kinect. Power on the console normally. Once it is on, go to settings to make sure the
settings are still off. Power down the console normally and plug in the Kinect, Power on the console and put in a game that requires the Kinect. Once it loads it should ask you to configure the Kinect. If it can't, your OS is corrupted and the xbox console
plus Kinect has to be completely reset by wiping out the entire OS and starting fresh.

Usually what happens is the Kinect drivers are incompatible with the new software and force updating the Kinect has to be done. There are videos how to do this on YouTube, but often the OS in the console gets corrupted and won't allow the Kinect drivers
to load up and power up the sensor.

actually I do believe I have the answer to that question. considering that the ENTIRE xbox will have to be updated, including the Kinect or neither of them will work., I would advise leaving the Kinect plugged in until AFTER the entire update has completed
itself. not doing this will probably mean that if the Kinect does not get updated at the same time as the xbox itself then it will not communicate with the updated OS very well either.

thus potentially bricking your xbox one. which is probably why some people on these forums are *** about bricked xbox ones. because they didn't do the update right

Update: 2 hours, 22 min, 37 seconds on the phone. No fix, no resolution. My Kinect is still a BRICK. Thank you Microsoft for testing your update before release. Merry Christmas.
