only guessing, but i'd assume either people needing to replace a broken one, or people looking to mod them in some way.

 

Any one want to put a wager on how many posts and pages this one will last? I say 5 pages and 216 posts. Just trying to give the thread something to read because we all know where it's going!

 

Oh man I would love a DL only console. As long as I have my movie/TV streaming services too..... I'm still holding off on sending back my current console with disc drive problem coz I mainly play the Downloaded games.

Well there-in lies the problem and hopeful solution from Devs. They need to make Kinect an integral, meaningful and fun part of the gaming experience. Here's hoping they do. Of course no matter how fun and great they make it part of the experience somebody
is gonna cry they don't want to use Kinect. "I don't want Kinect to play game X, why doesn't Microsoft just make a 50 button game controller instead and sell the One without Kinect"

 

Again? I guess it's strange how this topic keeps coming up. Must be important to some people. I don't understand why those of you that "like" Kinect would have anything against a Kinectless SKU. If you want Kinect, buy it. If you don't, don't. What's
the big deal? Microsoft should be "rewarding" developers for Kinect games that people want, not punishing the consumer.

 

Stone.. let me ask you this.. have you even tried the new Kinect?

 

Yes, I've tried K2 and I own a 1st generation Kinect. It's still a useless peripheral for my home. I'd rather spend the $75-100 on a couple of games instead of a piece of hardware I will not use.

 

Is all I can say is! LOCKED!

Good advice. That's exactly what I did, except I bought the camera too and still came out $40 cheaper with a more powerful console.

Why do people keep assuming the Kinect is only around $100? MS said long ago that nearly 1/2 of the cost of the system was the Kinect.

Navigating the OS with the Kinect is so much easier than using a controller. Plus using it with Skype and Upload studio for video making is fun. It may seem useless now but there is quite a few things you may enjoy while using it. Just have to give it a
shot. To me, its worth it.

 

So,it seems OP did spent time & energy on some pointless research on Kinect....But he doesn't know how to use the search fontion on Xbox forums.....

There are plenty of "teardown" sites that estimate the Kinect cost at $75. Microsoft may have been referring to the cost Kinect with regard to the Operating System (development cost)? It's pretty easy to tear apart a Kinect to verify it's components and
come up with a $75 manufacturing cost.
