Killer Instinct Season 2 Ultra Edition GwG

Xbox lists Dirt Showdown (Xbox 360) and Killer Instinct: Season 2 Ultra Edition Games with Gold titles being free last night at 12:45 AM EDT.

I clicked on and DL Dirt Showdown FREE with Gold, but when it came to Killer Instinct Season 2, it gives Error 807B0190.. Clear Cach etc as per the error suggestion. Still Error 807B0190 - It's now 8:19 AM EDT and still the X1 GwG link is giving Error 807B0190.

I then check the title in >Games >Killer Instinct Season 2 and it's listed at around $30 some odd dollars. (Can't remember exact price) Interesting thing about it is. 'Gold is about to run out..' WHAT? So I check and.. 3 months left on my 12 month subscription.

But even if it were only a week left, that wouldn't have nothing to do with Error 807B0190 or a busted link to GwG for Killer Instinct season 2 Ultra Edition would it?

Is anyone else getting this error for Killer Instinct?

killer instinct ultra edition, this is for season 1 and includes killer instinct classic number 1, season 2 must be purchased.

 

It wasn't on the marketplace this morning but may have been updated.

At first I was skeptical of "Killer Instinct" and felt that this App Store model of a shop had no place on an expensive games console like the XBox ONE.

Then they said "Hey, because you've been on LIVE a while... here's a code for all the characters in Killer Instinct" which I thought was kind of cool...

Until I realised that I was expected to "buy the level locations" or play in the same one for the rest of my days.

Even now I'm not sure if they're giving people the whole game.

Shame. This could have been the fighter that defined this Gen.

Instead it's a testament to most of what's wrong with this Gen.

here the same Problems. I've chatted with the Support an there are technical Problems with that Game. In Germany the game has no USK and is not free for download...

 

@Fish Head Soup - The game itself is free all the time, but not as a complete game. So you still don't have to purchase anything.

 

It says Season 1 for me.

@Azrael008uk if you would spend longer than 7 seconds in the game you would realize that stages are unlocked with Killer Points which is basically XP that you earn from doing matches and trials. Even then if you don't unlock levels you still play on ALL
of the different ones while you play.

 

Season 2 is not the Game With Gold, it's Season 1 Ultra edition that's free.

The base game is free. You're basically getting Season 1, which is an "Add-on" for free that unlocks season 1s characters. Season 2 is $19.99 for all of that seasons characters.

 

@Azreal You did get the game free. The first season anyways. The only thing you'd be buying extra would be extra costumes or season 2. The stages are unlocked with the experience points you unlock in the game. The concept of the game is very straight forward
and easy to understand.

 

Nah, I'm talking about when it first came out.

It was a confusing mess then and it's no less confusing now.

You got "Killer Instinct" for free, but there were only a couple of playable characters.

These were rotated over time so the people you were using before would no longer be available but a couple of new characters would be.

So for quite a few people they gave you "all the characters" (or at least all the characters available for release at launch) through a code as a gift.

Like I mentioned above you didn't get the stages. Just the characters.

Stages were sold seperately. Story mode was sold seperately. The game was like a jigsaw puzzle that had been dropped and split into a bunch of different pieces and they were like "Here's a couple of corner pieces... tell you what... we'll sell you the
rest of the game... on a piece by piece basis" which is as insulting as it is stupid.

There are some people who try to defend this by saying "Oh, you can sample the different parts of the game and only buy the characters you really like"... which to be honest, takes an extra special kind of "dumb" to actually suggest.

I gave the game a go when it came out. It's a really good fighting game and one that you'll have to invest a bit of time into in order to get the most out of.

Unfortunately, the "We'll Sell You The Puzzle... Piece By Piece" model is not one I'm interested investing any time in and so while I've spent a lot more than 7 seconds on the game I'm certainly not gonna invest several hours.

Like "Evolve" and "Batman" and a few others there's so much excess baggage with this title it's hard to be really sure what you're actually getting and so most people avoid it.

Shame really because as I mentioned above this could have been the defining fighter of this Generation instead of the Poster Child for everything that's wrong with this Gen.

 

It's a cobbled up mess is what it is.
