Kids can't play on Home Xbox unless I'm signed in (resolved)

Hello and thank you for your help.

I have the main account with my kids on the second console with their own accounts. It's strange as I had the kids computer as the home console this morning and could play all content both consoles, but planning to upgrade their console so switched my s/x to home and their computer will not play any content unless im signed in. Probably something daft is happening but can't figure it out.

Every account has a home xbox.

My account can play my games anywhere if im signed in.

My Home Xbox EVERYONE can play my games whether I'm using that xbox or not.

He can't use the another persons content on 2 different xbox's.

Hypothetically if the dad owned the content, and was always signed in while the kid used it over there, and the other xbox was the dads home xbox. Then the kidd could play both.

Or better yet if, If i misunderstood and the kidds account has the game pass the kid could play anywhere, and one of the xbox's can play the kidds games without him.

Thanks for reaching out to the forums. We understand you have questions on home console. With

home console the Xbox console you set as home any profile can play and use the Xbox live. This should be the profile that has the Xbox live subscription. The other console only the profile that is set as home on the other console will be able to play. The
other accounts will need Xbox live unless you can sign in the home console profile. So here is an example. will reference kids as 1, 2, and 3.

A. Kid 1 as the Xbox live subscription. His profile will be set as home on the console all kids use the most which is console B. He will also add his profile to console A. He can play on console A or B with no issues.

B Kid 2 and 3 they will be able to play on Console B with no issues. If they try and play on Console A, kid 1 will need to be logged in.

So if Kid 2 and 3 want to game together they can play on separate consoles. The one on Console A will only need to sign in Kid 1.

Set console 1 as HOME console.....anyone can play on this console (wife and Kids) without you being signed in (gold Account)

Console 2... If you are signed in (Gold account) on this xbox your wife and kids can also play sharing your Gold features and games.

This is what I do when my two boys want to play each other on separate xbox's and the same game...

Console 1 (home Xbox) kid #1 signs in

Console 2 , I sign in (GOLD account), kid #2 signs in

they play together

kid 1 and xbox 1

make sure kid 1 has the gold or ultimate subscription

make sure he sets xbox 2 has home

as long as you have internet kid 1 can sign in on xbox 1 and play normally.

kid 2 and xbox 2

make sure kid 2 signs in on his name on xbox 2 and he should have the same benefits as kid 1 as xbox 2 is kid 1's home console
