Kickstarter to help Microsoft fix "core services"?

Just an initial post to gage support for a Kickstarter to raise money to help Microsoft fix their Xbox Live service. Currently, on most days ending in "Y", it becomes impossible to use free applications (e.g. Plex, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video) because
the console cannot connect to Xbox Live to ensure ownership. Of a free app. I understand that providing a reliable multiplayer gaming platform is extremely difficult (Lord knows I couldn't do it!) but it seems much simpler to allow end users to, well, use
the applications that don't cost any money in the first place.

We all know that Microsoft as a company is strapped for cash, so I figured that this is where the Internet can come to the rescue, in the form of a Kickstarter project. We, the gaming community that have gladly paid between $350 and $500 for this console,
who want it to work properly should take it upon ourselves to raise the money to solve this development problem. Anyone with me? If so, please post here and I'll be happy to set up the Kickstarter on Microsoft's behalf.

:)

Yeah you can't go wrong with Kickstarter, and I'm not knowledgable enough to hide a bad link in a similar URL anyway. If that's possible lol
My first post in this thread was more in reference to Kickstarter than you, OP. My bad it came out ambiguous.

Something about kickstarter just feels dodgy to me; I think the whole concept idea is just vague enough to be exploited...

3. Sign Language should be implemented on Xbox One
A few days ago I swear someone wrote that it did support signing.
I'm sure it was a Microsoft, not on Xbox.
oh yes, if not right away, I hope an indie developer does it.
I would love to see someone doing that, i am willing pledge them like Kickstarter campaign.

Well, I thought of that too, but evidently they're not able to do so and I'd love to not have a snazzy $500 all-in-one brick sitting under my TV. Once that's solved I might look at a follow up Kickstarter to work on this website. Of the four games that
it shows me owning, I actually only own one: GTAV. Perhaps the same crew that built Xbox Live built this site's user profile module.

Hey, looks like Microsoft might be getting on board with this Kickstarter idea too! From my recent chat:

Angelie: at 18:52:21

By the way, thank you for patiently waiting on queue.

Sean: at 18:52:31

No worries. Xbox doesn't work, not much else to do I guess.

Angelie: at 18:59:46

It seems you were affected with the service alert online and there is no need to worry because our engineers are working on it and doing an update to serve our valued customer better. They are also enhancing our servers to give you the best gaming experience
online. Since you have reached us here, to get this resolved I will put you on our priority list so that once the service is up, you will be one of the first customer who can get the fix or update.

Sean: at 19:00:38

Fantastic. Any thoughts on how I could use the free apps that don't require multiplayer or purchase authorization (Plex, Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, etc?)

Angelie: at 19:01:19

What do you mean?

Sean: at 19:02:08

Well, I'm trying to justify the cost of Xbox Live Gold to my wife, you see. It's getting increasingly more difficult to explain to her why I unhooked my $50 Roku (which plays Plex, Netflix, and Amazon Instant, among other things) in favor of my $500 Xbox
Live (plus $50/year for Gold, can't forget that!)

Sean: at 19:02:28

$500 Xbox One, of course.

Angelie: at 19:03:08

Oh I see, thanks very much for the additional helpful information.

Sean: at 19:03:21

I understand that it's difficult to provide a reliable multiplayer service for only $500 + $50 annually, but it seems like it would be easier to allow the end users to use those free apps.

Angelie: at 19:03:56

Actually, you can use those apps without the Xbox live gold, Sean.

Sean: at 19:04:19

Really? Please let me know how. When I try to use those it asks me if I actually purchased them.

Angelie: at 19:06:59

When the service will be up and running, you can use those apps.

Sean: at 19:07:14

Right. But...it's down now. So....no dice, right?

Angelie: at 19:08:10

Yes, Sean. But no worries. It will be working few hours from now.

Sean: at 19:08:16

What I'm saying is that I'm currently powering a $500 brick at the moment. Despite the fact that 80% of what I use it for is things that are not dependent on Xbox Live -- yet without Xbox Live, I can't use even that part of the console. All I can do at the
moment is run network ping tests -- which is exciting, don't get me wrong -- but I'd rather watch Netflix.

Sean: at 19:09:01

I gotcha. Is there any plan for financial compensation for this weekly downtime?

Angelie: at 19:09:09

I totally understand your side of things Sean.

Since you are so cooperative and responsive all throughout our chat session. Here's a token of appreciation for you. I hope you like it.

Angelie: at 19:09:30

Here's your exclusive Call of Duty®: Advanced Warfare limited edition Sentinel Task Force Exoskeleton.* Please redeem the code on Xbox.com.

Angelie: at 19:09:34

[Mod Removed]

Sean: at 19:09:48

I have no idea what that is. I play Battlefield 4 (when Xbox Live is up, of course.)

Angelie: at 19:09:51

We are looking forward for some compensation already since this is encountered by most of the gamers and customers, then they are looking for it however we do not have an update for that yet. We fully understand you here since I am also gamer and I understand
the inconvenience you are encountering. If only we have the option to give you some compensation, we will surely give that to you.

Sean: at 19:10:10

Gotcha. That sounds better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

Sean: at 19:11:06

Since this is an ongoing problem you might want to refer people to this post on the forums: forums.xbox.com/.../1914956.aspx

I'm trying to gage interest in a Kickstarter for a fix to this recurring problem and the more people get in on it the better, I imagine.

Angelie: at 19:11:58

Oh this is quite interesting!

Sean: at 19:12:05

Yeah, we'll see -- might help!

Angelie: at 19:12:15

Yes, that would be fine.
