Keyboard stops working in-game after switching profiles

First, welcome to the Xbox community. I'm sorry you're having this problem.

I believe that when switching accounts the keyboard is probably disabled within the game, check in the controller's settings within the state of decay 2 if there is the option to switch from controllers to keyboard and mouse. Use the joystick to navigate to the required option.

*Note: Do this from the account you are having this issue on.

Please try the solutions below.

Solution 1:

Step 1. Press and hold the Xbox button on the console for at least 10 seconds to open the Power center.

Step 2. Then unplug the power supply from your console and wait for 3 minutes.

Step 3. Plug the power supply back into the Xbox console.

Step 4. Press the Xbox button on the console to turn it on again.

Solution 2:

Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > Account > Remove accounts.

Select the account that you want to remove, and then select Remove to confirm.

*After that restart the console and add the account that was having the problem again.

Solution 3:

*If it doesn't work either, you can try a factory reset as it may be some specific console configuration causing this.

Press the Xbox button  to open the guide.

Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.

Select Reset console.

On the Reset your console? screen, you'll see three options:

*Select the option to keep your games and apps so they are not deleted.

*If that doesn't work either, it could be that this is a configuration of the console itself where it doesn't allow playing the keyboard game on a secondary account. At this point what could be done is to log off the primary account to see if the keyboard would be recognized on the secondary account.

*If the problem is exclusive with this game, I recommend that you contact the developers, they will be able to give you more details about it. You can be contacting them via the link below.

If you haven't, please try the following.

When you switch profiles, and you see that the keyboard has stopped working, disconnect both the keyboard and mouse from the console, and plug them back in from the other account you don't own.

Thank you for the additional suggestion to unplug the keyboard and mouse after switching profiles. The mouse continues to work, but not the keyboard after switching profiles. When I switch back to the owner profile, the keyboard works fine. Very strange. Any other suggestions?

Thank you for the recommendation, but unfortunately, the are no options to switch between controller and keyboard and mouse. It looks like both should work at the same time. It works just fine using my owner profile, but when I switch to another profile within my family, the keyboard is disabled.

Please let me know if you have any other suggestions.
