Key Mapping in Xbox Accessory App

Hello Microsoft and Community

I recently bought the Xbox One Elite controller, mainly to use on my PC. I know I should have done a bit more research but regardless I was taken aback when I discovered that it is not possible to map keyboard keys to the Xbox controller. I can see how this
might not have been the highest priority since it is a console controller but I must say that I expected a bit more from Microsoft, the company that is trying to fuse console and PC gaming. As a programmer I find it hard to believe that this feature would
have been difficult to implement so my guess is it was either forgotten or intentionally ignored.

I am still happy with the Xbox Elite controller since it is indeed a very good product no question but I would humbly request that the Xbox accessory app be updated to included this feature (the way I see it this could be a key marketing point to improve the
controllers popularity amongst PC gamers that don't even have an Xbox One). I personally would even be prepared to pay a few dollars for such an update (I want this very badly '^^).

If this issue has been brought up before and I didn't find it amongst the Topics I appolgize, I am very new to the Xbox community so I hope this was the righ place to ask in the first place.

Xbox One Elite App

I understand that there are apps for both Xbox One and Windows 10. My questions is about the mapping key feature. I know that the mapping key is quite impressive in Xbox One. Is the mapping key features the same in Windows 10 app?

Elite controller custom elite mapping

So, this page in the store:

Xbox Elite Wireless Controller| Xbox One

Reveals 4 elite custom controller mappings for Battlefield 1. My problem is that they are not available within the accessory app installed on my xbone. The custom maps for Gears, Forza, Sunset etc... are available, but none for BF1. I don't see any option
to update or uninstall/reinstall the accessory app either. Does anyone else have this issue?

Thanks for coming to the forums with your question. You can look over the how to

configure the elite controller. There is no mention of mapping keyboard keys to the controller.

there are a few new commands you can take advantage of in the Xbox Accessories app, namely “Shift.” Using this allows you to add secondary functions to every button on the controller; only activate when you’re holding down whatever you’ve mapped as the
Shift key.

Being on PC, I have this issue as well. There is no way to map "take a screen shot" or "Start/stop Recording" to the Elite controller through the Xbox Game Bar, or Accessories App....the button mapping works fine on the accessories app, but the Game Bar application does not recognize the button inputs from the controller when attempting to assign a short cut. Short cuts must be assigned via Key Board currently, and the short cuts do not translate over IE: 'Shift - A' on the key board is not the equivalent of 'Shift-A' on the controller. To use the screenshot or recording feature on PC, I currently have quickly hit the short cut on the keyboard, then get back to the controller...very inefficient.

You should be able to do it.

Please, follow these steps:

Open the Xbox Accessories app.

Scroll to your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 and select Configure.

Select a profile to adjust or create a new one.

Select the Edit button and in the Mapping tab select the icon or letter for the button or input you’d like to change.

Select Primary and in the pop-up menu select the Key tab.

In this menu you can remap a single keyboard key with as many of the listed modifier keys as you want. Use Assign a key to choose the keyboard key you want mapped to the controller button or input and then select as many of the modifier key checkboxes as desired for the following: Shift, Ctrl, Alt, Win.
