keeping gamer info when switching to child account

I have to wonder what was in this latest console update which could cause changes to the child's Xbox account, surely the locally installed update couldn't affect the server based account?

It sounds more like to me there have been account side updates/changes made which has removed data which is essential to running of the child's account. At the point of login the system will realise the info is missing, causing it to think its not a fully
set up account.

As its effectively not a fully set up account, when the child signs in to Xbox.com it requires the parental consent to enable the child access to re-add the required information, but as we're all seeing, its stuck in the loop.

In my mind, the remedy for this issue is to temporarily switch off the parental consent part of child accounts, this would allow the child into the account to complete the information.

I'm sure we've all logged case numbers with MS? If so, the temporary removal of parental consent is something that can be carefully managed, just an email to the parent to say they've switched it off - go into the account to change and reply when done so
they can switch it back on.

I'd be interested to hear what other customers think of this theory, but I'd be even more interested to hear what MS think of it.

So your problem is basically your account is set to a child account but you want to change it? There's no way around it besides creating an entirely new account, or wait until the 17th birthday comes when you will have your account automatically switched
to an adult one. It keeps it from children altering their age to access mature rated material.

There is no way to transfer the account contents to another account and there is no way to make it a child account. He can still purchase things using redeemable currency codes and keep up the Xbox Live subscriptions with pre-paid subscriptions codes. But
in general it's always advised to create a new account for the child so it has all the correct info listed.

The best way would to set up a new child account for your son. You can't switch your adult account to a child account is the main reason.

You won't be able to transfer his games or achievements or gamer tag.

You can make his Xbox your Home Xbox so he can play the games you already purchased and share Xbox Live.

The parental permission allows the child account to play online and from that moment you should keep in mind that online are other gamers as well. It's your duty as parent to look after your child's online safety and decide if you want to allow this interaction
