Keeping disc in Xbox One

Your question was answered by that nice man Azrael above when he pointed out that it's fine to leave it in the drive.

There is an old wive's tale on the internet where some people claim that it damages your console but that's rubbish.

 

Just dont move your console wile the disc is init.

In theory leaving your disc in the console might mean it gets a teeny bit dustier over time, but otherwise it's absolutely harmless, unless you drop the entire damn console out of your bedroom window or something.

I inevitably always promise myself that I'll always put my shiny new games back in the box, and I inevitably fail to do so.

As Az said, it's an old wives tale.

 

I have had the 'can't read disc' message a few times recently, but my One likes to play silly beggars. Also, many times my games have continued from the pause screen without the need to load up even after several hours of the console being turned off.

 

Games are supposed to that aren't they?

 

Are they? For example...I can finish playing Thief and turn my One off, a couple of hours later I could start playing Thief again and it'll start me from the pause menu. Other time I'll turn my One back on and start playing Thief again but it'll properly
load up and start me at the title screen. Both times the disc will have been left in and nothing played from my HDD. Do I have a duff One just like I had a duff 360?!

 

Yeah you can carry on playing if you xbox is in "always on" mode

 

Yeah Thief is a bit hit and miss, but AC4 for instance you can literally start playing with no loading screens,, DR3 works well as well You turn on the function in the settings screen.
