Keep saying installation stopped when trying to update or install fortnite on my xbox one

Hi, Shona! Thank you for reaching out.
I'm AJ, an Independent Advisor for the Xbox Community.
I'm sorry you are experiencing issues installing Fortnite.

Unfortunately, unless it's due to a lack of storage, a network error, or a service outage, resuming an already-stopped installation/update process is not always possible.

Would you mind giving these possible solutions a try?

Go to Settings > System > Storage devices, and make sure you have enough space for this game. Although rare, sometimes the "Installation Stopped" error will come up due to a lack of storage space, even if you don't get the usual "Free up some space" notification.

    -----

    - Cancel the update.
    - Uninstall the game.
    - Try reinstalling the game.

    -----

    - Cancel the installation.
    - Go to Settings > System > Storage devices > Clear local saved games.

    * Important: This will delete all the saved games on your console but It won't remove saved games on the cloud. If your console has been constantly connected to the Internet and the Xbox Network, your cloud-saved data should re-sync with your console the next time you launch each game.

    - Try installing the game again.

    -----

Are there any external storage units plugged into your console? if so, please give this a try.

    - Cancel the installation/update process for Fortnite
    - If Fortnite appears under your installed games, try uninstalling it.
    - Press and hold your console's power button until it shuts down.
    - Unplug all external storage units from the console, and leave them like that.
    - Unplug your console's power cord for 5 minutes.
    - Plug the power cord in.
    - Try installing Fortnite on the console's internal storage while your external storage units are unplugged.
    - Wait until the installation is complete to plug your external storage in.

    * If Fortnite used to be installed on your internal storage and the previous steps didn't work, make the external storage unit your default install location at Settings > System > Storage devices > Change install locations. Then try reinstalling the game.

    -----

    - Try connecting your console to a different network, and reinstalling the game. Please note that even a phone's hotspot would work for testing purposes.

    -----

    • If the previous steps don't work, and you continue to get an "Installation Stopped" error every time you try to install the game, then it's likely the original installation of this game was corrupt.

In this case, I'd suggest performing a complete factory reset of your console. As a fellow gamer, I understand this may be a lot to ask considering you'd need to reinstall your games, but it's worked for other games I've helped in the past. If there's any way I could have your trust in this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

    * If you have an external storage unit you'd like to move some games to before doing the reset, you can do so at Settings > System > Storage devices > Select your internal storage > Move or copy.

    To do so:

    - Go to Settings > System > Console info > Reset Xbox > Remove everything
    - Just keep in mind you will need an internet connection and your account details (for each account) to sign in again.

    * Note: Resetting your console to its factory defaults erases all accounts, saved games, settings, and home Xbox associations. Anything not synchronized with Xbox Live will be lost. If your console has been constantly connected to the internet and the Xbox Network, your saved data should be backed up on the cloud.

    - Once the reset is complete, try installing Fortnite before any other game.

Please let me know if this works, I'll be looking forward to your reply.
    Best regards.

    Game installation

I'm experiencing this problem on Xbox one. The game I'm trying to install is "Fortnite" which is free to play. There is no error code or anything it just froze on 67.8% and keeps saying installation stopped. Also, I can't update any other game because it keeps saying that "we can't get the update at this moment". I also tried uninstalling the game then reinstalling it but I still have the same issue.

My black ops 4 disk won’t install

Before i start this post please say “bruh” so i know your not a bot thank you so my problem is everytime i try to download black ops 4 the disk downloads but when it says it needs a update the game it keeps stopping at 7% and it keeps saying installation
    stopped
    I won't say bruh lol

No worries... If u have hard drive connected remove it first then try to install. . One more convenient and best way to install the disc is to just insert the disc and when it asks if u want to install and update together .. In that option just use install
and update later option. . Let the game finish installing and update the game after that... I too had few problems like that and this process solved it.
