Keep game saves after uninstalling?

BEWARE what other Ambassadors tell you about your saves being "in the cloud" or with your account!!!

This is only true for games on the Xbox One console or "Play Anywhere" titles!

Since you mention "C:\Users\..." you are probably playing on a Windows 10 PC.

There, NOT ALL games save to your user account cloud!!! If the game is not a "Play Anywhere" game, chances are, it saves to various folders on your PC, depending on the game.

Also, it's not necessarily possible to transfer save games from one store platform (i.e. Xbox App/Windows Store) version to the same game from other store platforms (e.g. Steam, Humble, GoG or whatever).

Please contact the publisher of those specific games on how to back up your save game progress, so you could import it into the game at a future date.

BE AWARE HOWEVER: If a game gets updated (be it a bugfix or an extension), that your savegames from previous versions might not be compatible with the game after the patch! So even if you managed to back up your savegame, if you try to import it into a newer
version of the game much later, it might not be compatible!

Most of the saves would be on different folders on your PC, some would be under documents too, sometimes but not always the game will give you an option to keep your saves when uninstalling.

If for example you're playing a game on xbox, and want to carry on your save on PC, only specific games have cross saving on, so you won't always be able to play your previous saves on a new platform.

As for saves on Xbox, all game saves are to the cloud incase you get a new console and want to carry on playing where you left off.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to transfer save data. The games that are play anywhere titles, will download your save from the cloud. If you purchase through Steam or download from Game Pass, you will need to start fresh.

Yes, games do save even if you uninstall.

You should be good as long as you login on same account and dont delete cloud save game data
