Just Wondering...

The OP is downloading Wolfenstein The Old Blood (38 GB) at nearly exactly what would be expected for his internet speed (55 plan would take about 2 hours 10 minutes). His download times are in line with his connection.

What confusing is that my download times aren't in line with my connection, they are significantly slower. So in my case the additional speed isn't getting me anything much beyond the OP.

Those of you who are downloading games in 30 minutes or less we'd need to know the games size and your speed to determine anything productive as to where the bottleneck may be. If your ISP offers 1 GB home speeds (in my area those are business only) then
Wolfenstein in under 15 minutes is completely possible and it would mean MS isn't throttling.

 

It can be assumed that MS isn't throttling, it would be load balancing, peak times will have a heavy effect on your download speeds when possibly hundreds of thousands of consoles are downloading something, business class internet connections are expensive,
my company has customers that pay $2000 a month for a 50x50mbps connection, the cost would be unworldly for MS to provide enough bandwidth that could fully utilize customers full download capabilities.

I have a 50mbps connection and normally see downloads from MS ranging from 20-35mbps.
