Just Wondering...

Hello all

I have a question. On May 6th I bought Wolfenstein: The Old Blood which took 02:15:00 (hours:minutes:seconds) to download/install. Today I bought The Evil Within which took about 02:45:00 to download/install. Just wondering if this is normal for games to
take that long to completely download. I have 55Mbps download on my Internet plan.

Side note: I am not complaining both games downloaded and installed without issue and run amazingly. I normally only buy disc versions so that's why I am asking this question.

Is it true that if your xbox breaks for the first time, it can get repaired for free for the first time. i have an 250GB slim BEFORE i had this. i used to have an 4gb the first gen white console and when it got its first RROD they fix for free and we didn't
have no waranty.



Is this true.?

That is absurd. I legitimately have never had a game take longer than 25 minutes to download, and update. On average, they take about 15 minutes for me. I have heard of this only in the forums and Xbox Support. I have timed several of my installs and
updates, as have my personal friends. We all are around 15 to 20 minutes

 

Really? That's kinda lame. But as long as the game works fine and is worth the wait then I say better two hours then not at all.

Edit: I forgot the mention that other family members are using the same connection. One may be playing a game on Facebook or watching videos on YouTube. And another is watching Netflix or whatnot.

What type of internet connection do you have?

I have a 300mb d/l speed and I can't download a digital game anywhere near that fast. Depending on the size of the game (20 to 40 gb in most cases) I may get the ready to play option in 15 to 20 minutes but the game won't be downloaded for at least a hour
and I can easily approach 2 plus hours on larger games.

 

The reason why is you download using microsofts servers. Yeah theyre not the best lol. Just kidding. We have vodafone NZ 100mb/sec download and 10mb/s upload speed. It doesnt gaurantee every service will be able to download at those speeds. Even though your
ISP says your internet can do it.

 

15 - 25 minutes if your installing a disc with a large update from the net, 40GB games can take between 30 minutes and 3 hours to download depending where you are in the world, most isp's start throttling back large download speeds to even out the networks.

 

Lucky you. Most games 30 GB or above take between 8 and 12 hours for me to download.

 

I know it took me about 11 minutes to download Pool Nation FX which is part of Games With Gold which is 12GB big with an ISP which gives us 100mb/s down and 10mbs up internet speed.

 

It depends on various factors: your internet speed, how many people are using your internet at the same time, how many people are downloading the same content as you, among others.

I've a crappy connection, so I'm looking at a few hours of downloading digital content. Being able to start the game after a certain point of downloaded data is a godsend, though I usually play other stuff while it downloads.

 

I think some people are mistaking the "ready to play" pop up as the game being completely downloaded and installed.

I just went to a download speed calculator and 10 GB with a 100 mps connection would take 13 minutes. So you're average games would take a minimum of 26 minutes (20 GB). That's assuming that your getting your advertised connection speed and MS doesn't throttle
on their end which it looks like they do because it shouldn't be taking me as long as it does to download a game.

 

No, I am not mistaken "Ready to Play" for finished installing. If you would like I can have several of my personal friends that have witnessed my installs and updates and then timed theirs as well. I am not exaggerating or mistaken.

 

Ready to Play doesn't mean the game is fully installed, it just means that there is enough of the game there that you can load it. This is true of installing from disc or downloading.

 

NxtDoc isn't exaggerating. Mine isn't as good as his and I recently downloaded the Saints Row 4/Gat Outta Hell dual pack and it only took about an hour for both to complete. A friend of ours has spectacular Internet and for some unknown reason takes about
twice as long as what you guys experience on occasion.
