Just Wondering Why?

So yesterday XBOX Live was down for a brief time, which is fine things aren't perfect. However after I downloaded AC: Black Flag I pinned it to my home screen. While XBOX Live was down it said "Connect to XBOX Live to Access Your Pins".. my question is why?
Why do we need to be connected to Live to access our pins. Yes some of them require Internet access, but restricting the pins to Online only is a bit stupid.

Is it true that if your xbox breaks for the first time, it can get repaired for free for the first time. i have an 250GB slim BEFORE i had this. i used to have an 4gb the first gen white console and when it got its first RROD they fix for free and we didn't
have no waranty.



Is this true.?

Probably because it has a link attached to it. Not really sure why it matters since you cant do anything with it. But thats not for me to judge.

 

I've noticed this to. All my pins were unavailable when Live was down. I went into my games and apps and loaded the games from that screen... it works but is the long way to access a game, IMO.

 

I have gripes with that also.

 

It's likely because the pins are all universal, you log in to a buddies Xbox One and your pins are just there, you can edit them and move them around via Smartglass. They aren't stored on your hard drive, but in the cloud so no Xbox Live = no pins. It would
be nice if you could keep a back up of the locally though for just such an occasion, maybe setting your console to offline mode does this?
