I bought a new 12-Month Xbox Live Gold Card in anticipation of my subscription ending on 03/31.

Found out I can't redeem the code until my subscription expires, giving me ample time to lose the card before I can use it.

I probably won't and already e-mailed the code to myself so I can just cut & paste it on the website on April 1st.

This just seems like an unnecessary pain for customers and a thought-out change from Microsoft because I've been able to do this in the past, as I'm coming up on 10 years of XBOX LIVE.

I also have a 14-day free trial card from when I bought my XBOX ONE in October, just figured out why that didn't work. I'll use that too and probably use the renewal code on tax day.

It's just an upsetting policy change and I wanted to complain.

Why am I being charged?

There is a simple solution to this issue if you do not wish to use a credit/debit card. Buy pre-paid cards. That way you won't have to worry about being charged at the end of each subscription term. You would just have to remember
to buy another pre-paid card.

FYI, pre-paid cards can be stacked up to 36 months.

Using a 1 month live code while on a 12 month subscription

It will indeed push out your renewal date. My account was originally paid for by credit card and I have been using pre-paid cards for years and it just pushes out your renewal date, you don't have to wait for your current subscription to expire

Are you getting an error when you try adding the card? Gold subscription stacks. You can add up to 36 months of time that way. Trials don't stack which is why the 14 day wouldn't add to your current subscription, but you should be able to add the 12 month.

I think I may have figured this out. Did you get your subscription to Xbox Live with a 12 month (give or take) pre-paid card? If so, I'm thinkin we may not be able to play it because of the fact that by purchasing a pre-paid gold card, you are not entering
a billing address for Live, therefore it cannot match your billing address for the purchase of guardianship with that of Xbox Live. If this is the case, then we either need to raise hell with Microsoft or SEGA, Idk who we'd have to complain to about it.

I was under the impression that you couldn't use pre-paid cards/MS "points" to buy Fifa points. I'm sure someone can confirm or deny that, but I remember hearing a few people complain on here about not being able to do so.

Hi there,

You can add the pre-paid card a few different ways. From the store on the console you can go to redeem code, enter it, and it will apply the membership to the account that the code is redeemed under. To be safe, be sure only the account that you want the
subscription to go to is signed in.

The debit/credit card is put on the account if you have auto-renew enabled, and don't add another pre-paid subscription card to the account before the renewal takes place. I've never had my payment option billed for a subscription since I add new pre-paid
cards on well before the renewal is up.
