Just some questions.

I'm getting an X1 here in the next week or two.

I've been kind of away from the gaming universe for a bit I guess, so excuse me if these sound kind of dumb lulz.

Anyway, is there any real advantage to getting the xbox one with the Kinect included. I don't play on using voice or motion commands or any of that fitness crap. So would it be worth it to save the 100 bucks and get the Kinect-less version of the console?

Also is a Gold Membership required to play Destiny? I plan on getting a membership again eventually just might be a bit.

Some Questions

1. If you want the best TV for your money, join AVSForum and ask around
here. Generally it's better to read reviews and get expert opinions on a TV, rather than going to the store and picking the one you think looks best, because they almost never are.

2.If you xbox has an HDMI port, get this in preparation for your new TV. If it doesn't have one, then a component cable is a good second choice.

3. I'm not familiar with any headsets because I prefer surround sound, but yes, it does look like you'll need an additional adapter to use that if you intend to use an HDMI cable.

What's the difference between the white number and the green number in brackets?

 

Personally I would get the Kinect version, just for voice commands. If you dont plan on using them then save the money.

Yes Gold is required for Destiny as its an online only game.

you say you dont plan on using the kinect... tons of us did.. and now tons of cannot see the X1 without it... it is more usefull than you think...

worse case.. get the K with a bundled game... and if you dont like it you dont like it.. but you should try it...

 

I think I remember your old GT as well. As for the Kinect, if you got the extra coin, I would get it with the Kinect. It really helps with maneuvering the dashboard and saying, "Xbox... go to <fill in the blank>". If none of that interests you, then I
would go without. If you hurry up you can buy the bundle where you get a free game (Destiny). I think the promotion ends tomorrow.

 

Like other said if you have the extra $ you should buy it. If you dont its not a must own thing. But it help and is a great add-on.

 

With Kinect is the only way to go. The system just is not as good in my opinion without it. Voice commands make things that much better.

 

I have a Kinect version in my lounge and I love it.

I just bought a 2nd Xbox One for the "study" but without Kinect (figuring since I will be sitting 1 foot away from the X1 I don't need voice control plus since I won't be watching TV on it then also I don't need it for IR extender etc.).

And I have to say I miss the Kinect when I play in the study - it adds so much more than just "motion" - it's integral part of the UX.

So recommend you get with Kinect - especially if it is going in your lounge.

You won't be able to play Destiny without Gold. As someone else stated, it's online only. If you're planning on getting a membership "eventually", then you'll want to wait until after that to get Destiny.

 

If you don't think you will use the Kinect, then I would say get it without and if you feel you want it down the road, you could probably get one for cheaper off kijiji, ebay etc.., I have kincet myself and don't use it

 

I barely use many of the Kinect functions, but the voice commands are more useful than you think.

The "xbox record that" command is probably the most useful one for me so I don't constantly have to snap the game DVR up.

 

You picked a great time to get the Xbox One. Like Eggnogga said, they're still doing the promotion where you can get an Xbox package of your choice(Kinectless Xbox, Xbox w/ Kinect, Xbox w/ Kinect Forza and the Kinectless Madden 15 bundle) as well as a free
game(get dat Destiny) The first 2 options are really not relevant cuz even if you don't want a Kinect, you can still get Madden 15 for free basically and if you do want Kinect, go with the Forza bundle. I would say get the Kinect because like others have said,
navigation is so much better with it. Plus it's super fun to tell your Xbox to do this and that. Hurry up though because that promotion ends tomorrow.

 

i didnt use my kinect lame reason really i couldnt help feel embarrassed every time i spoke to it but once i got over that it really handy for snap and tv functions and just getting the hang of xbox record that

 

Yea I suppose i'll stick around for a while lulz.

And I seen that promotion last night I might try to order one tonight or tomorrow just for the free game lol.

I know this is probably a dumb question but is there like a clip recording function now or something? I remember people we're always using those capture card things last gen, that must make things a lot simpler.
