Just so many games!

Genchy, it is not just "my Opinion". I understand as much as you want to say it's simply "my Opinion" and thus use it in an attempt to validate your argument, this is not the case.

To be honest, I'm not here to try and win an argument with you. The debate is never intended for the two debating but those who view it. The Games this Generation are very much worse then any other prior. This is not
Opinion but Demonstrable Facts.

More Games this Generation suffer and continue to suffer as Quality of a Product due to missing Content that was applicable with more Games from just last Generation. It's a scale, a spectrum, more Games are far worse then any prior Generation. This is not
Opinion.

Like I posted I know people, my cousin for one got rid of all his consoles that are not enjoying this generation.

For me though it's been the best generation so far with the best games. Not saying I've enjoyed every game, been one or two stinkers but overall it's been fantastic and I'd say it looks like it's getting better.

Crazy thing is we have 3 of the biggest games approaching ( well I guess in terms of the numbers they will sell ) Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2 and Call of Duty and I'm not picking any of them up on release and I still have a huge catologue of games to play.

Mind you I'm interested to see what the campaigns are like on them but I'll wait until/if we hit a dry patch and give them a try then.

You say it's missing content, devs say it's extra content or a bonus. Their option is just as valid. In the end, whether you like and accept it or not, it's all a matter of opinion. Sorry to inform you that your opinion is nothing more than an opinion,
no matter how much you try to convince others that it's something more.

 

Reading this with interest, as it all depends what actually makes a game of this generation worse. If content is held back and issued as DLC when the content is already on the disk (which I'm sure is true, correct me if I'm wrong), does this make the actual
game worse?

As far as I can see from my experience, games of this gen are bigger, better, more in depth, innovative (well OK not all), better servers, online play etc. These factors for me make the games of this gen better.

Maybe with on disk DLC, microtransactions etc and whatever tricks developers have up their sleeves to extract more money from us is true, but does this make games of this gen worse? I think the opinion being argued is what constitutes a game being better
or worse, and different factors will be more important to different people.

IMO games of this gen are better, which brings me back to the original topic that I too have far too many games on my to play list/back log, and I quite often find myself flicking from game to game and not really concentrating on finishing 1 game. I have
therefore made an informed decision, I'm going to forget about all games accept for Forza Horizon 3, Mafia 3, and GOW 4; these will keep me busy to christmas at least!

It's different for everyone. Some are loving this gen, others not so much so it's worse for some, better for others.

Talking of content though.

Look at games like ( just a few for example ) Fallout 4, Witcher 3 come with a lot of content day one. Other games not so much.

For me though it depends on the game. An RPG and I love a huge game. Something like a FPS and anything over the 15-20 hour mark and I start to get bored. Again this will be different for everyone.

Getting back to DLC. I appreciate others don't like the practice but for me it's simple, want to extend the life of the game and I think the price is worth it then no different to me buying another game. Don't want it/think it's not worth it, again simple.

 

Do you not think though with an open world type game that a lot of it is "padding" I.e collectibles etc?

I think I would much rather have a good solid story driven ride for 8-10hrs and some MP fun than 40hrs plus of other stuff, I find myself just getting a bit bored of collecting/hunting for things.

Depends on the game I'd say. A lot of games just add loads of collectibles to add time but I a lot of the time I don't bother, I get bored easily just searching so like you I'd much rather have a great story but shorter.

Now Mafia 3 ( despite some issues, thankfully nothing game breaking ) has got it right. The main story is huge and brilliant + it has shed loads of collectibles to find if you want.

 

I have to admit I love collectibles and go for them all most times. I just have fun doing it.

 

Thinking back the game I spent the most time hunting collectibles was on Crackdown and those pain in the backside ORBS!

I can even remember that humming type sound they made. Few nightmares about those lol
