  1. Just replaced my thermal paste, may have a faulty fan?

My CPU fan worked fine before when I put new *INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH* thermal padding on my CPU (which was obviously a mistake but I had no actual paste) but even then, when my heat sink was begging me to take the pad out, the fan actually span when I started up the Xbox One. It ran the Home Screen, I started up CODMW2019 which obviously runs pretty high temps considering how big the game is, but my Xbox soon after powered off due to insufficient ventilation because I’m using thermal padding made for extremely large and powerful CNC machines that bake like a ****; point is, the geniuses at Microsoft made it so the device isn’t as large and powerful as a laser cutter and need this overbearing and suffocating pad that I was so desperate to have to use.

Continuing on the actual problem, I took apart my Xbox for the 5th time in 2 days and replaced the thermal paste very neatly as not to disturb all other electronic gates and capacitors. Alas, something must’ve gone wrong and I got some paste on the pins surrounding the CPU across from the actual silver plate on top of it (new to hardware, no idea what they do, I could guess a heat monitor?) but I quickly cleaned it up with some alcohol and a Q Tip and let it evaporate. I closed up the PCB and put all the screws and bits where they belong, closed up the case expecting it to work, plugged it into the wall, and kind of waited for the power brick to turn orange (this is after a hard reset by the way), then pressed the on button and made the engine rev the Forza Edition Xboxes make when you turn them on, the light glowed for about 5 - 8 seconds before it turns off with no display or fan spin whatsoever. I heard some HDD buzzing, indicating an attempt to read the files, but soon after powered off (again making the power off noise) and the brick turns orange. Sometimes when I hard reset the Xbox a couple of times, I saw the power brick flash white then orange then do that a couple times and then I just let go of the power button. I saw a video where when the hard drive wasn’t working, the Xbox shut off just like mine, and it turned out to be a hard drive issue. The same thing is happening with my fan (the fan spun in the video), but I don’t want to replace my fan without it being the problem. I personally think the Xbox is hardwired to power off when a component doesn’t get any power, but that may not be true. Any suggestions would be helpful and I don’t want to lose my offline clips and data. Thanks All.

    :)

My series X constantly turns itself off because of "ventilation issues" but only for series x|s games

Please do and let me know how it goes. Usually overheating is caused by small things like a faulty fan or just not enough thermal paste.

xbox one s randomly turning off due to insufficient ventilation

my console is not on a stand, I will try to air the dust out, I believe that the issue is caused by either my fan, thermal paste, or as you said a faulty psu, I will look into everything and post an update when I eventually find the problem and fix it, thank you for your help

Xbox one X scorpio stops working after some time.

I did find the solution. After just being fed up and dismantling it for fun I came across the real issue. After removing the copper plate on the CPU the thermal paste was dried and just dust and stones transferring no heat at all. The reason I couldn't
figure it out before is because the heat sensor is foolishly location on the fan. The heat never made it that far so the console never knew. After following some videos on thermal paste replacement my system now runs better then when I first got it. Xbox wanted
$350 to repair it when I was able to do it for free having the tools and paste already, a no more then $20 set. So check your thermal paste, there's lots of video guides on it. Huge life saver
