Just recently got an Xbox One and...

If you want the absolute best from Xbox One Kinect is a must have. Otherwise you simply don't have the full system performing as it was intended.

 

Kinect still impresses me, it's come a long way from it's humble beginnings.

 

I have found since they have the voice monitoring datathing going on, the recognition of voice commands has improved no end, mine even understands me when I have the occasional slur going on!

 

Yep, mine never skips a beat, i'm just hoping with future updates they add more functionality to the thing, because the tech behind it is amazing.

I tried out the Kinect 2 two days ago while I was babysitting. The voice commands to navigate the Xbox One dashboard was an insignificant bonus worthy of the price tag of the Kinect 2.

For example...

(1) Xbox go to Dashboard or just pushing Xbox One Guide button

(2) Xbox turn off or just hold down the Xbox One Guide button for 3 seconds then shut it off

(3) Xbox play Destiny or manually start Destiny on the Home Panel.

Long story short, the Kinect 2 is a useless piece of equipment for me and I'm really glad that I didn't waste my money to get it; you don't need it (the Kinect 2) to enjoy the Xbox One

However, I agree 1000% that to fully get the Xbox One experience, you will need the Kinect 2

No wonder you're having a hard time of it, Lei - most of those voice commands don't even exist!

1. It's "Xbox go home" not "Xbox go to dashboard."

2. It's "Xbox turn off" followed by "yes." Holding down the guide button will also require you to select "shut down console" and then "yes" so it actually takes longer.

3. It's "Xbox go to Destiny" not "Xbox play Destiny." To start it manually, you'll either have to scroll over to your pins to select it (if you have it pinned) or go into the my games and apps menu, scroll through your games, and select it from there. Again,
that takes longer and Kinect is faster.

Lei 10 minutes and some basic use really isn't enough time to deliver an informed verdict on the Kinect and its functions in my humble opinion but your still forgiven for the typos!
