Just ordered an X1, and have a few Q's

So, I finally caved in and ordered myself an Xbox One!

I do have a few questions though (I'm in the UK):

1) Rather than setting up a new GT, can I rename the GT that I currently have (just the name and keep my GS) ?

2) I've got PS+, and I'll be getting all my multiplats on my ps4. Is it worth getting Live on the X1 if I'm not really planning on playing online (i.e. what are the restrictions if you don't have a Live account apart from not being able to play online) ?

3) I read somewhere that Live members get discounts on games on the marketplace. Does that mean that I can get Ryse and DR3 for cheaper if I have a Live account ?

4) What Xbox One features are we missing in the UK (e.g. ESPN etc) ?

5) Can I use any pic I want as my gamerpic ?

6) I remember reading somewhere that the Xbox One has issues with DTS. I prefer using DTS, and most of my video files have the audio encoded in DTS, will they play ok ? Also, does the media remote work with media files ?

I have the same problem as CHI3FCHE3BA219's had but im way past 48hours … and still I never get Q's just the first one witch was never connected just like CHI3FCHE3BA219's did. but my status is active is the only difference. why don't I get Q's on my Bot?

 

XBox One X and external drive

How do we know that?

I mean, code from 360 is not compatible with X1 - is code hardware compatible for X1 and X1X?

For 360 you need to download completely new code and an emulator - how is it with BC for X1 and X1X running X1 games?

This is one of the big Q's if to get X1X for me.

Will it like PC have a X1 BC checkbox to be compatible with previosu OS?

For PC it is a checkbox for Windows 8 compatibilty, or XP compatibility etc.

 

I own both systems and have both PS Plus and Gold, I also play more multiplats on the PS but it's Gamefly determining that more than anything else ( so fanboys relax).

Personally it's worth having both just for the free games and discounts. There are discounts available only to Gold members.

 

I would get Gold if you have extra money you can find good deals with it. You get the free games, Deals with gold. And to play games like Halo, FH2 and sunset onlines. If you have th money buy it. the PIC no but you can pick form about 20 picutre. every
thing else i cant comment on cause i dont live the Uk or use the media files thing. I belive you can view youtube and netfliex without gold now. Anyway welcome to Xbox

 

You can change your GamerTag for free within 30 days of creation. Older GT's can still be changed, but I think it costs 10 bux. Details here:

Joining Gold? If you're not planning to play online, maybe skip it. Many service apps (like Netflix) no longer require it. However, if you plan to play games online (and many games seem to have online components, such as car racer Forza Horizon 2) that you
may well find yourself wanting it anyway.

Gold will also get you Games with Gold (one or two free game downloads monthly) and also Deals with Gold (game & DLC discounts, updated weekly). To see if these games & discounts are appealing to you, you can find lists of previous weeks/months at
MajorNelson.com in blog format. Maybe it's for you; maybe not. There are other benefits, too.

Right now, Gamer Pics are either your avatar or chosen from a selection of existing images... I think. I know Backgrounds are coming in the November update, so it's a possibility for the future. There's probably a thread to upvote over at
Feedback.Xbox.com for it; if not, you can create one. The dev team seems to pay attention to it, and have implemented many of the more popular suggestions already.

I have both GOLD and PS+ and have had both since they were created. The Value of GOLD is getting better, but its not the equal of PS+ yet. You get way more discounts on way more games on playstation still (though oddly its way better on PS3 then PS4). I
only bring this up so you dont expect the same value in that area, your not going to get it.

When they first started GOLD created value by exclusion, by preventing you from doing things, playing onilne games, connecting to Netflix etx. Sony didnt block your ability to do any of this in the begginning so when they created PS+ they had to offer you
additional stuff, free games, discounts etc to create value. This generation SONY has taken a few steps back and MS a few steps forward, but PS+ is still the better value, though not by nearly as much.

 

In the next couple of months you will likely be able to find xbox live (gold) subs on sale. So keep an eye out. I have not paid more than $48 (12 month sub) in the last four or five years. Once bought a couple of years at $40.

Currently 48 bucks on Amazon, I just grabbed one. You can stack them up to 3 years I believe.
