Just my Luck? (Sunset Overdrive Bundle, high pitched noise)

My xbox was working fine then one day it just starting making this loud noise no matter what i did play games, sit on the dash etc, sounds like all the recording you can here online at the mo.

Spoke to support and they said it wasn't right and if i send it off they will send me a new one. So that was cool but.....after sending it off i noticed online that it was down for repair so i messaged them again and told them what the other support worker
told me and i showed them the transcript of the chat, they wouldn't do anything so i asked to speak to a manager to cut a long story short the arranged for my xbox to be sent back then i could arrange a advanced exchange.

Well its come back today, in a new box etc. Its the same one and ive plugged it in, well it works and its dead quiet for now woo hoo!!

What they did i don't know. they must of done something as it was all reset and i had to start from scratch. There is a letter just saying sorry for any inconvenience and gave me 1month free xbox live.

This isn't a complaint im just happy to have my xbox back. I will say the only time i hear the noise is when installing a game so to me that means its a HDD fault or disk drive.

So to all of you how have the noise get it looked at or take your xbox back to the shop what ever is easier for you!

Fingers crossed you get it sorted and i hope my xbox lasts now.

Mines the same I think it's the fan , probably going to call support

 

Hiya Lennie, did you call them by any chance? I'm just wondering what will happen if I send them my white console. Will I get a white one back?

 

If you have the sunset overdrive bundle I would just take it back to the shop if it's within the 28days return.

It took 2 weeks to get my xbox back. Sent it on a Friday they got it on the Monday (using UPS) they sent it back on the next Friday and I got it Monday lunchtime.

It may not always be that quick they say 14 to 28 days so I was lucky.

Like I said in my post I don't think mine was the fan because the noise comes back when installing a game.

It is hard to pick to send it off or not because of all the horror story's you read but mine looks like new, was pack very well and at the mo works a treat.

Hope your luck turns for the good sevenpompano and don't give up. If it's within the 28days just keep taking it back till you get a good one, that's what I would do!!

 

Sorry guys BUT:

I have had 4 xboxes with the high pitch noise issue, I bought these in september. So before those bundles I bought it on release here in the netherlands. I thought "I will just wait for the next bundles with CoD / SO" but seems like they did NOTHING to get
rid of this issue.

I'm a decent person, I have been a very loyal MS/Xbox customer, but right now I just want to say this:

You can have some homemade [Mod Removed] Microsoft, I mean it. I wasted lots of time and money on your products. The only MS product I (luckily) haven't had issues with was my Xbox 360. Yes MS Windows always has problems.. Even installing a simple MS Office
Projects doesn't work with their own MS Office pack 2013.

Right now you're failing at nearly everything you do Microsoft, I mean it. My 4th Xbox One I received was even already unpacked/used at some point because it was REFURBISHED and I paid 400 for it YES FOUR HUNDRED.

I'm not buying any consoles anymore, MS [Mod Removed] me over too many times, Sony is full of [Mod Removed]. PC Masterrace, going to buy a nice GTX 970, a new SSD and make my PC beaster than ever.

Well after having my console since monday. No problem with my white console so far!

 

For me, if you can hear the fan rubbing. Is the console will be replaced with a new one if it does not pay to send guarantees for such a reason?

 

Glad to finally find a thread pertaining to my issue. My console is definitely not 'whisper quiet' but I'm getting paranoid that it's just me being critical! It's difficult to describe the noise but I guess it's just the fan plus a kind of whining. Mine's
kinectless and I've been tempted to get a kinect anyway but will probably see if I can exchange at Tesco and see if that solves it first. Definitely going to have to go advanced exchange though because Master Chief Collection cannot be left alone for 3-4 weeks!

 

Is the noise that everyone is experiencing similar to this?

 

@Noob Krusher. That's pretty much the sound my original SO bundle had. Mine was kinda higher pitched than that and much louder (could hear it from over 10 feet away). The fan on my exchanged bundle isn't dead silent but there's no notable noise coming from
it unless you put your head right over the system.
